candidate for re-election to the office
of sheriff of Oklahoma county, sub-

primaries, August 4, 1908.
Tomorrow is the "ulorious

of the Declaration of Independ

NOTICE TO SECRETARIES.
We wish to call the attention of
the secretaries of the different unions
again to the Importance of furnishing
us with n list of their presidents and
secretaries and the tlmo and place of
meeting. We want to run regularly
a complete directory of the different
unions, and to do so the secretaries
will have to furnish us this Informa-
tion. Now, brothers, it will only take
ono cent for a postal and ten binutes
of your time to do this, and we trust
that you will all comply with this re-
quest. Also mall us the news of your
different unions each week. It will be
a great help to the paper and the
cause.
Beaumont, Texas, electrical
workers, have obtained a raise
of 25 ccnts a day.
In demanding the union label
on your purchases you help
yourself while aiding others.
Some members of unions seem
to entertain the idea that the
pavment of dues constitutes
their duties as union men, and
they bccomc quite incensed
when they arc informed that
there are other duties they should
perform.
The Daily Oklahoman has the
reputation of possessing a deal
of ambidexterity, so to speak.
They are conducting a Demo-
cratic and a Republican paper
in the same building, with the
same machinery and with the
same brains. Talk about your
grafters!
Organized labor in South Mc-
Alester is in fair condition, con-
sidering the scarcity ot work for
tile past eight months. Street
car men secured a raise ol six
cents an hour, which advances
their scale from 17 to 23 cents

It was a bold stroke of our
colonial fathers with their lim
ited numbers and poor arma
ment to declare independence
from England, then supposed to
be the strongest power on earth,
but they won, and on the
Fourth of July each year people
of the United States rejoice with
exceeding cclat.
In Oklahoma City there will
be general celebrating and at
Delmar there will be some pat-
riotic speaking. Let the people
join ir, the celebration with good
cheer, good nature, "Peace on

men."
