PROFITS IN GAS
The county attorney of Muskogee
county alleges that the gas company
in that city is making a dividend of
twenty per cent and has applied to
the corporation commission lo have
the rales reduced. The corporal ion
commission will doubtless look close-
ly into the ipieslion before it reduces
the price (las companies have to be
continually extending their lines from
one gas Held to another and when (hey
are operating a Held they must make
more than an ordinary return on their
investment for the reason that an-
other big investment is always just
uliead of a gas company. The local
company has extcsdoil lis line from
Oil City to Ilealdlou and it looks now
like another extension must be made
this year to Vox or the people will bo
without gas next winter. The gas com-
pany which follows from one Held to
another with a gas line must lmiko
good returns on its Investment or it
cannot build extensions when they
are required.

remarkable. It was said of McKinley

Glass of Hot Water
Before Breakfast
a Splendid Habit
Open sluices of the system each
morning and wash away the
poisonous stagnant matter.
Those of us who are accustomed to
feel dull and heavy when we arise;
splitting headache stulTy from a cold
foul tongue nasty breath acid stom-
ach lame back can instead both
look and feel as fresh as a daisy
always by washing the poison nnd
toxins from the body with plio-pluited
hot water each morning.
We should drink before breakfast
a glass of real hot water with a tea-
spoonful of limestone phosphate In
it lo Hush from the stomach liver
kidneys and ten yards of bcwcls the
previous day's indigestible waste
sour tule and poisonous toxins; thus
cleansing sweetening and purifying
the entire alimentary tract before
putting more food into the stomach.
The action of limestone phosphate
and hot water on an empty stomach
is wonderfully invigorating. It cleans
out all the sour fermentations gases
waste and acidity nnd gives one a
splendid appetite for breakfast and
It is said to be but a little while until
tho roses begin to appear in th
cheeks. A quarter pound of limestone
phosphate will cost very little at the
drug store but is sufficient to mail"
anyone who is bothered with bilious-
ness constipation stomach trouble
or rheumatism a real enthusiast on
the subject of internal sanitation. Try
it and you are assured that you will
look better and feel better in every
way shortly.

the course of the fire temporarily.
On that square is situated the Mer-
rick hotel a four-story structure
costing $l.jO000. At S o'clock the
building was doomed.
Palatial residences In the fashion-
able part of the city smaller houses
in the factory and mill districts and
substantial brick buildings were razed
by the fire which was fanned by a
brisk south wind. j
Fire Department Helpless.
This section has been without rain
for over fifty days and the frame
buildings were consumed as tinder.
The Paris fire department a semi-
volunteer organization with apparatus
far from being capable to comba: such
a conflagration was powerless to
stop the onrushing flames. Scarcity
of water was also an impediment.
Just how the fire started was not
known at an early hour Tuesday
night. The compress with hundreds
of bales of col (on w as first consumed.
The fire then spread to adjacent resi
dences built closely together and of
light frame construction.
It is eighteen blocks from the com-
press to the center of the business
district. This distance somewhat
over a mile was laid in ruins In loss
than an hour the flames leaving in
their wake a path from one to three
blocks wide. A total of twenty-seven
blocks comprised the burned area in
the residence district.
Sweeping almost due north the fire
reached the public square on which
large buildings face. In these are
located tho exchanges of two tele-
phone companies and one telegraph
company. Telephone girls were forcd
lo flee from their posts in danger of
being swept into the flames.

the plant is covered by insurance. The
lire was discovered about the press

spread rapidly. The fire was under
control in -10 minutes. A large part
of the loss was covered by insur-

Prairie Grass Fire.
Guthrie Okla. March 21. Tho
grass fires which had been raging over
i large part of Springvale township
since Saturday were subdued Monday
night. At times nearly every man in
that section or Logan county was
fighting the fire and it required heroic
work to save many of the fine farm
houses in the path of the sweeping
flames. Many small out buildings
were destroyed and a great amount of
baled alfalfa bay was burned. In
many sections of the prairie rass was
unusually rank and as dry as powder.
It proved to be the worst grass fire
which has occurred in Logan county
in many years.
