Every housekeeper knows the dis-
comfort Of an envelonlnir nnrnn fl.-t
i.ieuK.u ion. ove e MKuaune h(lH sIoevoa from th(J shouiuenj- Whon
tho absence of cook makes kitchen
work imperative or when there Is
dusting to bo done that tho housewife
wants to attend to herself it Is a seri-
ous discomfort on warm days or in
tho heat of tho kitchen to wear about
tho body any moro apron than Is nec-
essary. For this reason tho square-
neck apron with its open wide arm-
holes and separate sleeves to the el
bow becomes a boon that women
thankfully receive. Tho dress 13 pro
tected all the way to the hem In
places exposed to dust and to tho
danger of splashing water or sput
tering grease but the upper arms and
throat are free.
This Is tho easiest kind of long
apron to niako as the square band
around the neck serves as a sort of
yoko to which tho plain apron Is gath-
ered. Tho sleeves aro caught about
tho wrist with a fitted waistband and
an elastic run through tho top of tho
sleeve holds It In place on tho arm.
There are two rapacious pockets and
the housowifo has at hand all the lit-
tle things sho may need In her house-
keeping. To add to the convenience
of tho garment it is merely fastened
at tho back with two little buttons
and thero you are!
If you have an eye for looks you
will choose an attractive gingham in
a cheerful color and pattern taking
care to buy something that will wash
well. Percale and any other sultablol
cotton material will make a good
apron but for tho kitchen gingham is
perhaps best. It does not absorb
easily and it will stand hard wear.
To mako this apron you will need
