Oklahoma Central Sold
Oklahoma city. Okla. Aug. I The
Oklahoma Central Hallway was sold
today by its receiver at public auction
in Purcell to Francis X. Quinn of
Philadelphia the only bidder. His hid
was $300000 and sole stipulations by
the court are assumed. Tomorrow the
road will he transferred by him to the
Oklahoma Central Railroad Company
a corporation which was Btarted here
witli a capital stock of 11600000. This
Company will in turn lease the road
to tin- Santa iv which company is now
operating the property under a lease
made a lew months ago. The new
corporation will have principal offices
In Muskogee.
The Incorporators are N. a Gibson
H 1. Long. W. M Cutlip .1. A Latham
and Qeorge II. Beaaley all of .'Musko-
gee. The road has no line Into Musko-
gee nor has the Santa Fe. The Cen
iiai extends from Lehigh to Chlckasha

Friday was Hottest Day of the Yea
Friday was the hottest day of the
year. The mercury here registered 111
at Hie government observatory. Only
twice since 1902 lias this point been
reached on August IK 190!) the same
ligure was shown The excessive heat
was relieved Friday night by cooling
showers that feH over practically this
entire section and while po heavy
rainfall was recorded the showers
were of benefit to the cotton crop and
served to cool the atmosphere. From

The atmosphere yesterday morning
was a relief to what It has been for
the past four weeks and everybody

Albert Solomon "At Home."
Albert Solomon the baker is "at
home" to his friends and the chances
are very flattering that be will be
found there for several days to come
through no fault of friend Albert's
rather his enforced association with
his family was caused by the acci-
dental discharge of a .88 caliber Colt
pistol which dropped from a cot upon
which he was sleeping and exploded
the hall shattering bis right ankle.
Mr. Solomon was sleeping on a cot
on the porch with the pistol under
his pillow and when arising the pistol
in si me ma:. net- was cast to the
floor with the above result.
