CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

views are not eligible to membership
In the Independent Order of K'nai
li'Kitli within the limits of district
grand lodge No. I jurisdiction of
which covers the I'acillc coast stales
and reaches as far east as Salt Lake
City. The decision regarding Christian
scientists was reached yesterday in
the district convention now in session
here.
Kxplaining the position taken by
the order. I. M. tlolden grand presi-
dent said:
"It is impossible lor any person to
be a Christian Scientist and remain a
Jew. The H'nai B'rith is not a reli-
gious order but it is a fraternal or-
ganization composed of Jews only and
therefore affiliation with any church
that lends to work away from the
Jewish faith should of necessity bar
man from belonging to the order."
Mark Twain's Hard Luck.

"You are a straiwr?" asked tlio

"You chose a good time to come"
the barber continued. "Mark Twain
is goinjr to reiki and lecture tonight.
You'll go. 1 suppose?"
"rh I guess so."
"Have you liouplu your tie'tet?"
"Not yet."
"Hut everything is sold out.
You'll have to stand."
"How very annoying'' Mark Twain
said with a sigh. "I never saw such
luck. 1 always have to stand when
