Jones, negro, wiped out tradition to-
day when he confessed to being a
professional ghoul. Ho admitted
robbing more than 40 graves last
month. He usually worked at mid-
night, ho said.

ment in Friday's Democrat, it was
btated that gaberdine and whipcord
raincoats were included in the sale
prices advertised. Such is not the
case, the little word "not" was omit-
ed from the ad, which should have
read that these garments were "not
included in the sale prices." These
coats aro of excellent quality and are
bargains at regular prices.
Tile fire department was called to
703 South Choctaw at 10:15 this,
morning by a small blaze caused by
a defective furnace pipe. No dam*
age. Last night about 7 o'clock the
department was called to extinguish
a grass fire on the Rock Island right.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 9.—The ship
subsidy bill -slightly revised as it
passed the house, was ordered favoi
ably reported to the senate by the
commerce committee today. The sen
ate will begin consideration of the
measure Monday.
4 CONSTRUCT NEW HIGHWAY
One mile will bo cut from the state
highway leading north from El Reno
jnst as soon as a mile of intersecting
highway is completed. At present
the highv ay extends ten miles
north of the city, one mile west and
then four miles north into Okarche
Hereafter the highway will extend
nine miles north to Pleasant Home
school, one mile west and then five
miles north into Okarche. County
Commissioners now have a force of
men at work on the mile of highway
west of the school. Round cornen
will be made at the turns. Kingfish-
er County is planning improvements
on the state highway in that county
to connect with Canadian County
highway in Okarche at the Canadian
county line.

been set, according to Ben Goff.

deep in whisky at the Jack Dan 1-1
Distilling company here, the police
sought clues to 12 bandits who last
night made prisoners of the four
armed guards and carried off 300
cases of bonded whisky valued at
JoOHOO. Twenty five barrels of whis-
ky were overturned by tho robbers.

be appointed from the state commer
cial bodies to confer with the proper
legislative committee in order that
some definite plan of highway con
structlon may be evolved.
MERIDIAN BRIDGE
IS NOW COMPLETE
The Meridian Highway bridge
proper, over tho South Canadian
River near Union City has been
completed Insofar ns the present con-
tract provides. Under a separate
contract from that governing the
construction of the bridge, a two inch
layer of asphalt will be laid over the
bridge floor. The steel work of the
structure and the concrete floor have
been completed, and the timbers re
moved. As soon as the asphalt L~
laid, the bridge will be entlrelv
complete with the exception of the
approaches. Plana are being drawn
for the bridges and culverts to be
placed along (he new highway leading
to the bridge from Union. City, and
by the time these structures have
been completed the highway an i
bridge approaches will also be near

that April 1 may witness the comple
