FIGHT
W. M. Gregg and Hayden Davis were
arrested yesterday, charged with fight-

lice court tonight.
This fight occurred Saturday night
at the corner of Fifth and Broadway
and was a very bloody afray.
Gregg made the following statement
of the trouble thla morning: "I was
across the street from my house, lit
front of the A. B. C. grocery store, talk-

shout to me to look out I turned to
the left and JubI then he struck at me
and hit the |"ist with a billiard cue,
breaking It all to pieces. We both be-
gan fighting and passed several blows
though neither of us was skinned up
until I knocked him through the big
plate glass window A shower of glass
fell upon both of us then. Davis ousscd
my wife Thursday night, using all
sorts of bad language, and 1 wouldn't
stand for It. He can cuss me out, but
no man can cuss my wife."

Mrs. Davis an elderly lady and her
son Hayden, w.ho Is about 19 years old,
reside next door to Gregg on North
Broadway. The two families have been
having trouble recently over the Gregg
children supposedly worrying Mrs. Da-

Mrs. Gregg and Haydon Davis had
each other arrested Saturday and the
cases were both dismissed by Judge

The man with the profound look on
his face, and who had been silent (or

like a man who had solved a mystery,
and, turning to the man who had been
uneasy for fear that the train would
leave without him, he said:
"Sir, a thought has occurred to me.'
"You don't say!" was the reply.
"It is In connection with the earth*

"You don't say!"
"If an earthquake occurred at Ja-

Panama?"
"That's so—that's so."
"And should one oceur at Panama

would, be Included."
"It probably would.'
"And If so, sir—If so, what would
become of the water In the canal—and

and millions of dollars? There would

"Heaven! I see it all before me ai
