An ambitious politician sug-

If you are sick or " feel badly," begin
taking the great kidney remedy, Dr.
Kilmer's Swamp-Root, because as soon
as your kidneys are well they will help
all the other organs to health. A trial
will convince anyone.

Criticism of public officials is
wholesome and increases the ef-

Sickness of employes of this

in the date and the make up of

tor, trusting to the efficiency of
his printers, overlooked the me-
chanical part of the business,
hence the errors.

It is stated to the writer that
some of our merchants are buying
their goods from Montgomery
Ward & Co. and that they are
alco patronising Sears, Roebuck
& Co. We canuot verify this
but it seems to be a fact that a
large number of the people in
the country have catalogues from
the above named houses and that,
instead of selling these cata-
logues as formerly, they are now
furnished free by the houses
named. Some of the Enid mer
chants have tried to stem this
outflow of money to foreign con
cerns and have done it by adver-
tising low prices. It is the only
way to head off the big citv con-
cerns.

Special to the Democrat.
Kansas City, Mo., Monday.
Oct. 2, l')05.—With the heavy
run of 84,500 cattle last week,
prices were uneven, although
weakness was the predominating
feature. 11,700 calves were in-
cluded in the total. Best dry lot
steers got the benefit of competi-
tion from eastern order buyers,
and made a gain of 15to 25 cents,
toppy lots selling at $5.60 to
45.85. Fair to good killing
steers sold strong, but medium
to common grades and cows and
canners were 10 to 20 cents lower.
Stockersand feeders ranged from
nearly steady on good ones, and
desirable westerns, to 25 lower
on medium to common stuff, and
closed the week at the season's
lowest prices. Neaily 12.000
cattle, including 5500 calves were
held over from last week, al-
though 950 car loads were taken
to the country during the weed.
The supply of cattle today is
21,000 heab, about like last Mou-
day, but other markets have
lighter runs, and the outlook tor
the week is better than a week
ago. Prices arc steady on every-
thing, cows strong and dry lot
steers 10 higher today- Corn
fed steers sell at $5.00 to $5.85,
corn and grass steers $4.00 to
$4.75, straight grass cattle at
$3.25 to $4.25, with exceptions,
of course, outside of these fig-
ures. Most ol the cows sell un-
der $2.75, canners $2.20 and
downwards, bulls $2.00 to $2.75
nearly steady with last week at
$5.00 to $5.00, for light ones,
heavy calves 25 to 50 cents lower
than a week ago, at $3.25 to
$4.00, with a good many common
calves under $3.00. Most of the
stockers and feeders last week
sold at $2.75 to $3.50, a good
many cattle below $2.75 and
some fleshy stecss, for a short
feed at $4.00 and upwards.
Heavy runs without much change
in prices is the outlook for Octo-
ber.
Hog pries:; made a small net
loss last week, bnt market has
settled down apparently, steady
today, and practically the same
as two weeks ago, top$5.40, bulk
of sales $5.25 to $5.35. Receipts
last week, 36,000, run today
7,000, which is some heavier
than they have been runuing;
quality is better, and range of
sales narrower. Weights below
200 sell at $5.00 to $5.30.
The extra big run of 57,000
sheep and lambs last week caused
