Wagner was born in Greenville,
Texas, June 10, 1882 and received
his education In the public schools
of that city. I4\ter, as he told the
Herald, he received private training
from a professor of the old school
who taught from the old Ray's
Arithmetic and emphasized his
teachings with a hickory stick.
His first work was oil a news-
paper. the Greenville Messenger, as
a proof render, but he left the news-
paper profession September 30. 1901

al Greenville. He continued there
until September 8, 1906, when he

It was from that position that
he came to Sapulpn nnd became
identified with the life here of the
hustling Creek County municipality

Mrs. Hutchinson was dead when
her body was discovered by the
jailer after he had returned the
two boys to their cells.
