On December 23th
On December ist Indiahoma Camp No. 6935Mod-
ern Woodmen of America voted their Charier open
lor the period of thirty days to Deputy Head Counsuls
E. M. Shearer and Loris E. Bryant. The Deputies
were to choose sides, selecting every member of Sa-
pulpa Camp in good standing, who resides here, and
wage a contest for thirty days for new members, at the
end of which time, or rather on Tuesday night Dec.
29th. they will have a grand CLASS ADOPTION and
BANQUET. The side br.nging in the fewest number
of adoptions will be required to defray the expenses of
the Banquet.
Now every member is urged to put his shoulder to
the wheel and hustle for good material. There is
plenty of good material here, and we should have a
CLASS ot at least 0?IE HUNDRED to adopt on the night of
Dec. 29th. So let every member get busv. Following are
the names of the members as they have been chosen
by the Deputies. Every member securing an applica-
tion should report it to the Deputy who heads his list,
on or before the following meeting night.

Ordinance No. 158

An ordinance providing for general
tax levy upon all the taxable property
in the city of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, for
the year 1908, and repealing Ordin-
ance No. 155.
Be It ordained by the Mayor and
Councilmen of the city of Sapulpa,
Oklahoma.
Section 1. There is hereby levied
upon ail the taxable property in the
City of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, real, per-
sonal, and mixed, within the corpor-
ate limits of said city taxable accord-
ing to the laws of the State of Okla-
homa, for the year 1908, the follow-
ing levy, at the following rates and
for the purpose herein enumerated,
to-wit:
Salary fund. 2 mills.
Street lighting fund 1 8-10 mills,
j Contingent fund. 1 mill.
Fire and water fund 1 2-10 mills.
Street and Bridge fund, 2 mills.
Sinking fund, 2 mills.
Total for general purposes 10 mills.
Section 2. And whereas, the City
of Sapulpa being authorided to issue
its negotiable coupon bonds to the
aggregate amount of $15,000 for the
purpose of providing funds for the
I construction of a city building to be j *f"
I devoted to public uses of a city hall,
| jail, and fire station; said bonds be-
ing provided for at a special election
held in the City of Sapulpa on the
20th day of October. 1908, at which
election a majority of the qualified
tax-paying voters of said city voted
affirmatively for said bonds and au-
thorized the levy of an annual tax
upon all the taxable property of the
city of Sapulpa sufficient to pay the
interest on said bonds as it falls due,
and also to constitute a sinking fund i
for the payment of the principal there |
of within twenty (20) years from
date of said bonds.
Therefore there is hereby levied
upon all taxable property in the City
of Sapulpa for the year 1908 for the |
purpose of providing for interest on I
city hail bonds. 9-20 mills.
For principal on city hall bonds
9-20 mills.
Total levy for all purposes 10 1S-20
mills.
Section 2. Ordinance No. 155, be- |
ing tax levy for 1908, of the ordinan- I
ce of the City of Sapulpa .is hereby
repealed.
Section 3. An emergency for the
public peace, health and safety is
hereby declared to exist, and this or-
dinance will take effect and be in
force from and after its passage, ap-
proval, and publication.

An ordinance appropriating certain
moneys to the payment of sundry
accounts and expenses.
Be it ordained by the Ma?or and
Councilmen of the City of Sapulpa,
Oklahoma.
Section I. That there is hereby ap-
propriated from the moneys in the
water fund in the hands of the City
Treasurer for the purpose of paying
the following bills upon the following
accounts, and which bills have here-
tofore been approved by the Council,
to-wit: $1,143.51, divided as follows:
To L. M. Rumsev to car of water
pipe, $332.88.
To L. .M. Rumsey to car of water |
pipe. $332.88.
To the American Cast Iron Pipe Co.
$477.75.
and the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby directed to draw warrants on
the Water Fund for the same in favor
of the persons to whom said bills were
allowed.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be
in force from an dafter its passage,
approval and publication, as required
by law
Passed and approved this 4th day of
December, 1908.
