Mrs. French:
Enclosed find letter from Senator
Harris, which quite fully explains
itself. Seeing much in the republican
papers, especially the State Capial,
charging the democrats in congress
with "obstructing." if not in fact
"blocking statehood legislation," and ]
continually lauding Mr. Flynn for his
heroic efforts to secure single state- j
hood for Oklahoma, I concluded to j
write Col. Harris and learn the abso- |
lute facts, enclosing the Capital's i
editorial of the 2T th ult. and asking |
for his statement in answer, with priv-1
ilege of giving it publicity if desired, j
and I hand it to you for such use if.
you deem it best.
I only wish it was possible for me to j
do the case justice. 1 would like to i
contribute to the smashing of repub-1
lican duplicity, and worse than
duplicity, even lying to the people
merely to hide away from tic respon-
sibility that falls to them in keeping
faith with the people of the territory
of Oklahoma in the matter of sta'c-

again. But I leave that for abler |
pens, such as your own.

The above is our authority for
making the statement that Dennis

Then why should congress bother
with this against all precedent? There
must be some urgent reason for this
on the part of Flynn. He forgot ?!
to provide the three new counties with
representation when the country was
opened to settlement. He forgot to
make such provision in his statehood
bill. Aud now in order to correct
r. Senator Allen that omission he must gerrymander
the whole territory. And mind you
