Jesus gave us this powerand autlmiily through
His Name. His Word, and Mfli
through the Holy Spirit
The purpose of the outpouring
of the Spirit in Acts is to empow -
er the church for ministry .
Acts 1:8 tells us.'But you
shall receive power when the
Holy Spirit shall come upon >ou.
apd you shall he My witnesses to
Me in Jerusalem, and all Judea
and Samaria, and to the end ot
the earth.''
Also. Jesus tells us in Luke
10:14. "Behold. I give you the
authority to trample on serpents
and scorpions, and over all the
power ol the enemy .and nothing
shall by any means hurt you "
Serpents and scorpions are
symbols ol spiritual enemies and demonic
power. o\cr which Jesus has give His followers.
And. we've got the power in His Name. In
Philippians 2:4.10.11. scripture tells us.
Therefore. God also has highly exalted Him
and given Him the name which is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow ol those in heaven, and of those on

A Prophetic View
These are such powerful scriptures that you
can feel the strength of them as
you read them out loud.
Everything that has a name.
His name is above that, that
means any sickness and disease,
and every demonic attack com-
ing against you. and He has
given us His name to use which
He tells us in Mark 16:16,17 and
18.
Not only that, but He has
given us power to get wealth
which His Word tells us in
Deuteronomy 8:18. that He may
establish His covenant
This word is to remind you to
exercise the authority that God
has given to the church. If you
did not know this, then know that
this power is available to all who believe in the
Lord Jesus Christ
Be blessed today.

There are very real and present dangers in
our land today. The threats of terrorism, our
very shaky economy, and the ever spreading
occurrences of wickedness and vio-
lence are enough to create a state of
dread and fear into the hearts of
men. If you are a Christian I want to
encourage you to keep your head
and heart in all of this.
God has not given us the spirit of
fear, but a spirit of love, power and a
sound mind. God our Father loves us
and is for us so that we can say with
confidence we will not fear what
man may do. We have the Holy
Spirit of God living in us to
empower us to not only not
walk in the fear of the tlesh but
to walk in faith, hope and love,
filled with the peace and joy ot
our Lord.
There was an Old Testament
saint who. though dead, has
been speaking encouragement and comlort lo
God's children for nearly 3000 years lie is
certainly qualified to speak and teach us
because he was filled with the Spirit ol Christ
and lived out a whole range of human expcri
ence: events, emotions and the presence ot
God.
David knew what everyday hard work was.
he knew victory over wild beasts and Goliath,
he knew what it was to flee tor bis lile Irom a
jealous king who wanted to kill him. he knew
what it was to be crowned king ovet Israel and
he knew what it was to fall into grievous mii
More importantly, in every instance he learned
more about the mercies and steadfast love ol
the God he loved and served
The events, emotions and workings ot (iod
are recorded so that we might learn that < iod is

who fear and trust Him. However weak and
feeble you may be, if you're looking to and
leaning on Jesus, the Great Shepherd. "... He
.will not let your foot slip — He who
watches over you will not slum
her...The LORD watches over
you . . .The LORD will keep you
from all harm — he will watch over
your life: the L()RD will watch over
your coming and going both now
and forevermore." Psalm 121:3-8
If we would be wise let us do as
countless thousands have done
down through the centuries: let us
listen to a man who loved the Lord
and was intoxicated with His
Spirit Let us drink from the liv
mg waters of God's grace and
he refreshed. Let us find hope,
he encouraged and comforted
with these words of David
penned during a most perilous
time in his life:
I will bless the LORD at all times: His
praise shall continually he in my mouth I
sought the LORD, and He heard me. and
delivered me from all my fears...This poor
man cried, and the LORD heard him. and
saved him out ot all Ins troubles Die angel of
the LORD encamps round about them that
fear Him. and delivers them. O taste and see
that the L()RD is good blessed is the man that
trusts in Him. () tear the I < >RD. ye his saints
