charge of the art department of the
territorial fair, that the surest way to
make the womans department a suc-
cess would be to enlist the co-opera-
tion oi all the ladles of Oklahoma
City
If the ladies of our city will take
an especial pride in working together
with enthusiasm, the result will be
that to tiienj will be due the credit of
arousing among their own sex all over
the territory, a generous spirit of
emulation, thereby securing to the
fair a higher grade of competitive
work than could otherwise be ol-
tained.
It is the intention of the committee
to offer special country and township
prizes. These prizes when not cf
money, are to be paid in .work of wo-
men artists of Oklahoma City.
in order that arrangements be com-
pleted early, ladies of the fair com-
mittee will commence this week to
canvass for subscriptions.
It is hoped that all Indies will give
to the cause as their finances may al-
low, thereby stimulating the efforts
of their own sex, and helping to pro-
mote the growth of our city through
the advertising medium of the terri-

Council meeting.
All members except Councilman
Richards were present at last n'gi.t's
council meeting.
Tho school board tax levy for the
ensuing year was approved. It la as
follows: General school, 0 mills; in-
terest on bond 1±; sinking fund, 1
mill; total; 7} mills. Dr. Dunn was
the only member who voted no.
Mayor Button reported the veto of
the ordinance to reduce the number!
of signers for liquor license. The '
motion to pass it over his veto was j
lost, and thereupon an ordinance was
put through which settled the trou-
ble. It provides for the signatures
of the owners of two-thirds of tho lots
in the half block. As the old law
was construed two-thirds of the lot
owners had to be secured. Now, the
man who owns six lots has six votes,
etc.

and J. J. Ha'ey to sett liyuo:s were
granted.
Last spring at the end of the season
Church & Harrah had on hand a big
stock of onion sets fo - which they had
no sale. They finally concluded to
plant them. The n is panted five
acres. They have harv< t u I them and
find that the yield is lOO'i bushe's.
The onions are selllm at tlfty rents a
bushel. The yellow D.in vers. El Paso
and Red Weatherford* were planted.
The Danvcrs weigh 14 ounces, and
the other two weigh 10 ounces each.
