The burning of a cold storage house
on the world's fair grounds on Sunday,
caused thirty-five'firemen to loose their
lives. _
Now that the leader of the Starr
gang has been captured, it is quite
likely that there will be a dirth of
train robbers.
The malitia, of Kansas will not he
called out this winter, (iov. Jewell-
ing will not have an extra session of
the legis lature.
The Territorial Normal school, un-
der the direction of President Winat ,
will be the leading educational institu-

The editors who contemplate going
. to Chicago on the excursion, are
breathing much freer since Henry
Starr, the noted train robber, has been
arrested.
The Kickapoo reservation should be
opened up at the same time as the

mistake will be made. These lands
are the linest in the world, and a3 there
is but a small area of them, the
rush will be great.

No le s t:: an thirty firemen lost their
lives at the world's fair grounds Sun-
day afternoon just before 2 o'clock,

was built of wood overlaid with staff,
and was highly ornamented with col-

thirty feet above this. As stion as the
firemen arrived about thirty-five or
forty climbed up ladders to this land-
ing, and were preparing to throw
streams of water to the burning por-
tion, when the fire, which had eaten its
s ay inside the stall to a point below
where the firemen stood, broke out
with volcanic ferocity on all sides.
Exclamations of horror went up from
the lips of 30,0t' > people who had as-
seinbW about the building to see the
fire, live men saved themselves by
hiding down the ropes. Before the
others could follow the flames had
burned away the ropes. The unfortu-

reach of an\ laddei s and the crowd
stood horror-stricken and helpless to
rescue them. The flames ran higher
and higher until tho men were were al-
