Employee arrested for taking money from restaurant
By ROB SHERRILL
Herald Staff Writer
Sapulpa police arrested
an employee of a local fast
food restaurant Monday
after he confessed to taking
$500 from the facility last
Saturday.
In custody is Oakley K.
Shelton. 29, of Sapulpa.
Patrolman Sabrina
Rokonuzzaman reported she
had taken an embezzlement
report from the manager of
Taco Bueno, 722 S. Main,
last Saturday.
The manager told
Rokonuzzaman that he had
left the money on a desk
when he left his office for a
short period of time.
The patrolman said ini-
tially she took Shelton into
custody for traffic warrants
and brought him to police
headquarters.
The affidavit stated Bret
Bowling interviewed
Shelton who confessed that

Applicants for the
Millionaire for a Day drawing
were asked to create posters
and essays around the theme,
“What would I do to help a
military family if I had a mil-
lion dollars?”
Finalists were then chosen
from all area schools. Their
names were put in a bowl.
The potentially life-chang-
ing event happened at
SpiritBank.
Finalists not drawn from
the bowl were taken bowling
for the afternoon.
it remains to be seen if
Matt remembers the impor-
tance of good money manage-
ment.
Perhaps of greater impor-
tance. Matt was able to enjoy
a day out of school, a day of
endless wealth and a day like
no other. Who could forget
that?

“I will go on record now to
say these two roads currently
are major impediments to the
urowth of Sapulpa,” he said.
The council also approved
purchase of property at 942 S.
Park for $105,000 as part of
the Flood Mitigation Buyout
Program.
The property consisting of
about an acre of land includ-
ing a house currently is
owned by Michael and
Sherrie Latty, according to
council documents.
Council members
approved closing Highway
117 on July 4 as part of the
Independence Day fireworks
display.
The panel also approved a
new ordinance concerning
wholesale and retail sales of
fireworks.
City Attorney David
Widdoes said the new ordi-
nance was necessary to permit
current fireworks wholesale
operations in the newly
acquired annexation in Town
West.
One council member asked
if the new ordinance cleared
the confusion as to whether it
was legal to detonate fire-
works by the general public
inside the city limits.
The question reopened
wounds from a debate
between Widdoes and City
Fire Marshall Donald Acree
concerning the legality of
shooting fireworks inside city
limits.
Widdoes said last year and
again last night that it was
illegal to detonate fireworks
inside the city limits, and he
would draft an amendment to
clarify the ordinance by the
next meeting.
The council approved a
proclamation naming May 25
as Erin Pickens and Aramasa
Henderson Act of Heroism
Day in Sapulpa.
The proclamation cites the
two girls for their actions after
they found a toddler floating
face down in a pool of water
last month.
