Prof, Jamieson's classes are
doing some good work in the art
of debating. This is a line of
work long needed here and stu-
dents are making good use of
this opportunity. In the past
week they have debated such
questions as "Should the Normal
school course be elective?" and
"Should the summer term be
lengthened to twelve weeks?"

Lewis Crawford, a young man
who lives at Dickson, was arrest- '
ed by Deputy Sheriff Smith,
charged with a malicious assault
with a deadly weapon upon an-
other young man by the name of
R. L. Green. The shooting took
place at a dance Saturday night,
at which both men, who have not
been having the best of feeling,
appeared. Some words followed
the meeting, and Green states
that Crawford whipped out a gun
and shot him. Just what their
trouble was could not be ascer-
tained but it is understood that a
young lady figures in the case.
Crawford was taken to the coun-
ty jail but was later released up-
on $1,000 bond furnished by his
father and other friends.
