THE MASTER AVIATOR
I saw an aviator great
Without a fear or care
The ether ocean navigate,
The master of the air.
With sudden speed he mounted high
In clouds afar to fade- -
The easy sailor of tho sky,
A ti oat and unatraid.
And then he came returning, down
Within my vision's ken.
Above the field, above the town.
Above tho sea again.
With many a long and graceful sweep
He clrclod near and far,
A happy ship upon the deep
Blue heavens like a star.
Yet there were men who did not see
The wonder in the blue.
Or looked upon him languidly,
As mortals often do—
So busy with their man-made things
They neither saw nor heard
The music of his boating wince,
The beauty of the Bird.
ly assoicated with sexual Irregulari-
ties; ft is healthful and proper to
educate men and women, boys and
girls and to teach them sexual self-
control even before being made
aware of the risk they run in throw-
ing aside the conventional moral
code. Inculcate honor and prudence
—yes. but we must look upon this
disease from a sanitary standpoint.
We must not confuse it with sex is-
sues. We must not think of syphilis
as a "wages for sin," as a "well
earned disgrace," as a badge of im-
morality, as a necessary defense
against the loathsomeness of promis-
cuity. Under this sort of moral
preachments the disease has con-
tinued to spread wholesale disaster
and degeneration.
A little calomel ointment, specially
prepared, rubbed into the place on
which the germs were deposited
within a few hours after exposure
lias done more to prevent the further
spread of thla scourge than all the
preachments of all the moralists
since the days of Columbus. This
method has been adopted by all the
armies and navies of the world and
has reduced the risk of Infection to a
remarkable degree. A similar pro-
phylactic is used against gonnorrhea.
It so happens that the slogan of edu-
cation and moralization Is tho easiest
to utter and the most difficult to put
Into practice of all the schemes for
the control of sexual diseases.
I his brings us to the second cause
of failure—the economic factor, 'i he
Instinct to reproduce it as strong
and fundamental as is the desire for
food. A social order which defies
it will meet defeat. The present eco-
nomic system is very largely re-
sponsible for our unsocial impulses
and unclean sexual lives because it
makes the gratification of sexual In-
stinct in marriage and the assump-
tion of tho responsibility of a family
more aud more difficult. Continenco
and clean living as preparations
for decent and reasonably early mar-
riage and the raising of a healthy
family are laudible ideals; but con-
tinence as a life-long punishment
for the Impossible demands of an op-
pressive social and economic order
gets as little attention as it de-
serves.
The second beast with horns is the
clergy or false prophet preacher
of today. Read chapter 13 of Rev-
elations. then if you will read the
thirteenth and fourteenth verses of
chapter 16, and 20 and 21 of chapter
19 It will tell you where the Holy
AMiancc, big business and politicians
are going to spend their summers
and the time is at hand. God will
not permit the evils to exist but a
few days longer so if I were going to
try to save America from the devil
and from exploitation and starvation
I would apply Socialism for it is all
the remedy. But we have the beast
and his Image and the false prophet
to fight and we can do nothing until
the right time comes, then perhaps
w e can be instrumental in the hands
of God in saving the^ world.

OKAY DAYS.
Editor Leader: The cold gray

them many homeless and hungry
wanderers. The gaunt and hungry I
wolf is loose in the land sniffing
here and there, looking for prey,
seeking whom he may devour, lying

these mighty rulers and takers would
