Two Sapulpa grapplers—James
Thomas and Jim McReynolds—
leached the consolation finals of
the state class A wrestling tourna-
ment at Blackwell Saturday after-
noon
Thomas, a 123 oounder was to
face Mike Leonard of Perry Sat-
urday night McReynolds' foe at
141 was to be Nick Richards of
Harding.
A win in the finals Saturday
night would have given the two

Chieftains May Enter
Bartlesville Tourney
Although no definite announce-
ment was expected until Sunday,
it appeared Saturday as if Sapul-
pa's basketball team will be in a
six-loam Class AA regional tour-
nament at Bartlesville.
David Sippy. Sapulpa athletic
director, said officials of State
Athletic Association, said that
was the tentatively plan as ot late
Saturday afternoon
Other teams tentatively sched-
uled to compete in their regional
are Bartlesville. Miami an••
water in one bracket, with Enid.
Ponca City and Sapulpa in the
other
Sippy said the tentative bracket

ami play Thursday night, with the
winner facing Stillwater on Friday
night
Emd and Ponca tentatively are
scheduled to play Thursday in the
lower bracket, with Sapulpa to
face the winner on Friday.
Both Stillwater and Sapulpa re-

al tournament after dropping a

In addition to Hale, the other
team advancing into the AA tour-
ney at Oklahoma City was Shaw-
nee. 54-40 w inner over OC Central
Norman and McAlester were to
play Saturday night.
In A playoff action. Sand Springs
won a 70-65 overtime decision ov-
er Drumnght.
State Volleyball
Meet Date Is Set
BARTLESVILLE <UPD- The
1963 Oklahoma AAU women's vol-
leyball tournament will be held
March 23 in the Phillips Petro-
leum Co. gymnasium in Bartles-
ville.
The Phillips 66 “Red” team is
defending champion.
Entries will close at 5 p.m.
March 15. Entry fee is $6 per
team Howard Heuston is tourna-
ment manager.
Individual awards will be pre-
sented to members of the cham-
pion and runner-up teams.

Three area teams- Mounds and
Depew girls and Preston boys—
reached the finals of regional
tournaments with victories Friday
night.
Bill Morrison's Mounds girls
went into the finals of the Claas B
girls division at Wagoner with an
easy 50-36 win over White Oak
Friday night
Morrison s crew was scheduled
to face Indianola Saturday night
in the finals.
Gladys Rice paced Mounds with
26 points, while Barbara Green
had 22 Mounds was in command
all the way, leading 9-3 at the end
of the first period. 22-13 at half-
time and 36-21 to start the final
quarter.
The win boosted Mounds' record
to 194 overall.
Preston's boys notched their
26th win of the year without a de-
feat in downing Boynton, 52-49.
They were to face White Oak in
the finals Saturday night.
At Stroud. Depew's girls won a
berth in the Class A finals by
edging Perkins, 32-29 They were
to play Wellston Saturday night
Milfay's boys were eliminated
from the class C competition at
Seminole by Vamoosa. 81-46
