You know we kind of believe Henry Ford, the automobile
king, never was a pacifist. A pacifiirt, as we understand the
■word, is a coward; a man who would rather run than fight;
■who will have naught of war because he doesn't believe in it
and besides is afraid to fight; who would rather that his country
would go down in ruin* t' an have it involved in \. ar.
That is going it pr< ity * trong, but if we believe all that
ha* been said of the pacifist, he tarns the title 0/ every line of
the foregoing definition.
Henry Ford possesses only one phase of the definition;
has been said to the pacifist, he tarns the title of every line of
the old army idea that war* are right IS WRONG.
Henry Ford announces that his plant is now "100 per
cent efficient for war" and that the manufacture of the pleas-
ure cars has stopped and that all of the company'* resources
are being devoted to war work.
"Eagle boats" and Liberty motor* are among hi* proouc
turn* for war. There are 5,000 stars in the Ford service flag
and the flivver king say* "there ought to b e 30,000. for we are
all in the game."
We ought to have more of that brand of pacifism. For,
a* a matter o f fact, t he Henry Ford kind i* the bulwark of
this nation.
