The bill was immediately
transmitted to the senate where
it now awaits action by that
body.
A similar bill was reported fa
vorab'y Wednesday by the sen-
ate committee on banks and
banking and consideration of
the bill has been made a special
order of business for Thursday.
The governor, in his discretion
is authorized to offer rewards
not exceeding $1900 for the ar-
rest of persons guilty of bank
robbing, effected forcibly by the
use of fire-arms or explosives.
While it is not stated in so
many words in the bill, the
measure is so worded as to pro
vide payment of the reward for
the apprehension of bank rob-
bers dead or alive. The bill
specifically provides that if the
robber resists arrest and is kill-
ed while an attempt is being
made to place him under arrest,
.he reward will be paid just the
same as if conviction were ob-
tained.
