people. The only thought was for
party advantage and personal am-
bition, Such a party should not
obtain perpetual control of the
State.
The primary campaign has shown
the Democratic party in even a
worse light. It has been a cam-
paign of personalities, of villitica-
tion and abuse.
It would be most disastrous to
start the new State under such aus-
pices It would be a staggering
blow to our homes, our growth and
our industries. The Constitution,
which forbids a government by the
people, which does not provide tor
the education of our children, which
whould drive away capital and new
comers from joining us. must be de-
feated, and that so decisively as to
show the people of the country that
we are still a people of law and or-
der, and justice and progress.
• It really is not a partisan matter
as it stands. It is a question of fair
ness and State pride.

OBSERVATIONS AND CONFKSSION8
OF THE WAXKR
Ancie't Rome
NOW that the democrats have I
, i j. 'lt.i j c:*- is now merely a memorv ot trie
nom nated men what will they do, Sit Illuw '
down and wait developements, or
pull off a little election of their own?
IT is strange, says the Muskogee

Kansas City last week, didn't regis-

TODAY is Hag day. How many
know what that means. Today is
one hundred and thirtieth anniver-
sary of our country's flag. 1 he
stars and stripes should wave from
everv home and business house
today.
HOW patriotic the democratic
candidates were last Saturday. To
hear them talk, one was stirred with
the thought that America was the
best country on earth, and that
everybody was happy. Sunday
most of the candidates were exclaim-
ing "to h— with everything."

GAMBLERS AND SPORTS
Every city has a stock of gam-
blers. The larger the city, the more
aristocratic locking men are to be
seen, who apparently have nothing
to do but to wear fine clothes. 11
this is true. Sapulpa must be getting
pretty large. There are in this city
to day more gamblers, professional
ones, than ever in the history of the
town.
Gamblers as a rule are easy
spenders. They make thier monev
easv and spend it the same way
But is a city any better with its
quota of gamblers, gentlemanly
gamblers, and sports?
Some contend that all real live
towns have places for the gamblers
and fast women. It is a fact that
all large and busy tuvns do have
them, but are the towns any better
for it?
Sapulpa has her share ol this kind
of people. They molest no one, in-
sult no one, and behave very nicely,
but do we want our city to gain the
reputation of being a "sporty"
place? We don't know whether we
('o or not. Its up to the people, j

TO THE VOTERS.
While we are waiting for Court I
decisions to clear the way for defi-
nite action regarding our election,
we can take time to calmly consider
how we shall eventually vote. Fully !
ninety per cent, of us are Republi-1
cans or Democrats and will cast our j
lot with one or the other of the two j
great political parties. A la -ge num-
ber of us are young men, first voters,
and the decision now made will in
nearly every case be final. Shall "'e
join the Democratic or Republican)
party? Events have made it easy |
to decide.
The Democratic party has been
on trial for months in their Consti |
tutional Convention ami their pri-j
mary campaign. In the Convention ;
the Democratic majority not onlv j
proved incapable of calm and delib- j
erate judgment, but turned into a
bear garden what should have been
a solemn and dignified assemblage.
The work of that body stamped the
Democratic party of the new State
not only as incapable and ine'licient,
but as vicious and dishonest. T here

We noticed one of the democrats
who was chasing for the nomination
advertised that "he and God," would
run the business all right. We don t
believe that C.od entered the race,
and if he did, he didn't spend the
money that some of the candidates
did.

Candidates are men who think
Thev're smarter than the rest,
They chase around the country
And everlastingly pest
The ,juite citizen who prefers
His home and humble cot
To all this political dope
And hot air, gushy rot.
Some candidates are all O. K.
And ought to be elected,
While others haven't got much
sense
And sure should be rejected.
We've decided that if we should
Run for office in this land,
We'll never go a chasing 'round
Grabbing at ever hand,
And telling men how much we
know,
And how good that we have been
And on what farm we were born,
And that we never committed sin
We believe the common fellows.
Like "Old Abe" and his flock,
Have got the present candidate
Skinned a country block.
We like the old time politics,
The game they used to play,
But things have changed
Since Willie died,
And people have no say.
