It is essential that the republican leaders in Okla-
homa territory take account of the wishes and the pur-
poses of the republicans of the Indian Territory. It is
folly to waste time discussing impossible things and it j
would be a crime to have a misunderstanding between
the republicans of Oklahoma and those of Indian terri-
tory. The republicans oi the two territories are rapid-
ly being lined up on different sides of the question of ac-
cepting the constitution or rejecting it. Oklahoma re-
publicans are opposed to endorsing the constitution so
idled with frauds and blunders as to make it repugnant
m self respecting men. The Indian territory republi-
cans condemn the constitution in as severe terms, but
say they must have local self government and that to
secure that they are ready to accept even the mons-
trous provisions of the constitution written at Guthrie.
This difference is producing a very serious condition
which should call into play the best efforts of the pa-
triots republicans on both sides of the line. Men who
love the great party should go to work earnestly to
bring the republicans of the two territories to an un-
derstanding.
This should not be a difficult task and will not be
I if approached with candor and a spirit of fairness.
Agreements can be reached and they should be religi-
j ously observed. The very first thing for the republi-
| cans to do now is to get together on what shall be
! done with the constitution and this should be done
I without delay.—Times-Journal.

11 IS BEGINNING to look as though "the people''
were going to run Hon. J. H. N. Cobb, of this city, for
congress from this district, whether *e says so or not.
From all over the district (nineteen counties) come re-
ports that Mr. Cobb is the man. During the constitu-
tional convention Mr. Cobb was one of tile leaders. He
j was one of the "apostles" which, of course, had a tend-
|eney to hold him down, but his record at the conven-
! tion is known all over the district. J. II. N. Cobb was
| one of the strongest men in that convention, and was
| recognized as such. If he will permit his name to be
I submitted as a candidate for congress from this district
somebody is going to have to run mighty hard to
down him.

SEVERAL people have commented favorably upon
the little editorial in the Light last week in regard to
the crossing on Dewey at the railroad being partially
blocked with cars, w e hope the citv authorities will
tak.. up this matter and request the triseo to always
leave this street entirely open.
THE meanest cuss on earth is the blear-eyed mon-
grel who has always got his knife out for his neighbor,
who is continually paying railroad fare and express
charges galo-e in order to beat his home merchant out
of a sale, and then yelps like a howling coyote because
some one turns a nickle out of the channel that leads to
his own pocket book.
IN UTAH once they had a constitutional proposi-
tion about like Oklahoma now has. The minority
document was taken up, ratified by the people and
signed by the president. Mavbe the "apostles' docu-
ment" here will undergo the same treatment.
ROOSEVELT has asked about the const:tution of
Oklahoma, and is busy studying rules and regulations
He may sign the document and he mav not. There is
a chance that the "apostles' document" will be sub-
mitted and maybe ratified by the people
THE sewer matter is not dead. Action is being
taken tins week. The bonds are being advertised now
Work on the system will begin within a month. By
September Sapulpa will be entirely sewered. So say
the authorities.

POLITICS are now getting warm again. It is be-
gining to look as though things are going to the Re-
publicans in a landslide.
NOW. ifWoodlawn puts up a school building this
summer Sapulpa can boast of five schools. It looks
as though the Woodlawn people will build a structure.
THE Creek Nation is said to contain more

ACCORDING to the Bristow Record, Cobb would
be an easy man to defeat for congress. If vou happen
to see Mr. Cobb, tell him this sure.
ID you ever stop to think, Mr.
Business Man, that the news
of your business is as much a
part of the local events as a
wedding or a church fair?
The ladies are just as much
interested in a newfabricyou
have on your shelves as they are in
any home happening.
Your store news and announcements in these columns
will reach a large circle of eager buyers. This will
enable you to sell your goods while they are new and
fresh, and you will not have to sacrifice later at rem-
nant counter prices. Think it over.

Another Letter
[Following the communication
in the Light last week, we were
handed the letter which appears
below, bv the same author—a Sa-
pulpa lady.—Editor.]
It is a fact that where our homes
are, there otK interest should be.
We all should do everything that
is in our power to make our homes
and those around us happy. We
should try to lighten the hearts of
those we chance to be in company
with. No one can appear happv
with .1 heavy heart. There is no
harm done in being polite to all.
We should not judge our friends
too quickly if we should happen
to see them upon the street with
some one we do not like the best
in the world. We should try to
better ourselves. Sapulpa has as
good people as any town, and 1
hope I can impress this upon the
minds of every lady, 1 heard a
lady say the other day that Sa-
pulpa was the hardest town she
was ever in. She said that all the
people eared for was the dollar. I
hope net many ladies are impress-
ed this way. * * *
