Henry Cr.gle will go fr:e for his al-
leged connection with the opium trade
in Sapulpa. according to :• statement
of t hief of Police Wise made this
morning. This Is the third attempt
of Sapulpa officers, as co'inty and city
officials, to convict men on preliminary
examination before the government
Commissioner Hyarns, at Tulsa.
Recently Billy Atkinson and two
deputies raided a still on Tiger creek
and saw euough to satisfy most any
jury.- Their prisoners were dismissed
from want of sufficient evidence.”
Shortly before this an l tempt was
made to blackmail Max .Meyers, (he
local clothier, and the supposed per-
petrator of this was not ’.eld for trial
by the commissioner.
It seems almost impossible to get
a case lx fore Judge Campbell, when
it must lirst go through the commis-
sioners hands. Although Cagle was
caught w 1th the goods in his posses-
sion and the negress he is alleged
to have sold to gave her testimony to
the end tl.at she had purchased the
drug tram him, a conviction was not
secured and the evidence was appar-
ently ‘insufficient.”

In April Wes Garrison. ,t is claimed,
attempted to murder his family with a
revolver, when he was under the in-
fluence of liquor. On an information
sworn to in justices court, he was
arrested and released on bond when
he waived preliminary and was bound
over to district court. When the
county attorney sent the r ecessary In-
formation back to Manuford, the
scene of the attempted killing, no one
would sign it a second time.
As a result Garrison stood under!
bond of $250 to appear at each term
of district court, although his name
was not or. the docket and no court j
holds a case against him. His at-
torney P. p. Hibernian, th:s morning
appeared before Judge f? anfleld and
attempted to have the bond removed,
but the judge was powerless to act
because the case does not appear on
his records. Hillerman will probably
instruct his ntan that theie is no ne-
cessity to appear in court longer, un-
less the information is finally signed
and filed by the county tuthorities.

(REEK COUNTY DELINQUENTS
WILL SUFFER PENALTY.
A land sale to collect delinquent
taxes, an occurrence that has never
happened in Creek county, Is now""be-
ing considered by the county commis-
sioners, who face the bureau of get-
ting in the $200,000 due f ont county
and city resident. Tonto-row 1911
taxes fall due, which will leave the
county somethlnw like $600,000 to col-
lect, county the delinquent amounts
for 3 years back.
The commissioners will discuss
this immediately after settling where
the new court house will be located.
The rest will probably be that within
a few weeks the county v ill have Its
first enforced sale of land for tax col-
lection. In certain sections of the
county nearly all the farmers are de-
linquent.
