Oil City. March 10. The farmers
of this community are well along
with their work. 'Everyone who hai
made a start arc using a turning plow.
Oats and small grains that have boon
sowed are showing up fine. The
warm rain of Sunday was a great
help on broke land.
The health of the community is
improving. Very few culls for a doc-
tor were made last week.
James Hagsdale E. B. I.uke and
young Mr. Kearney were in Oil City
lust Thursday in an automobile.

hoimer & liauhe was in Oil City last
week.
A. G. Koberlson of Ioco passed
through Oil City last week. He is
very enthusiastic over oil prospects
around Loco.
Prof. Wm. M. Golden of singing
school fame was in Oil City on a
visit last week. He has been teach-
ing a singing school at Graham.
W. E. Gupton has installed another
fors.'e in his blacksmith shop. He
says business is rushing.
Mr. and Mrs. George Shrader who

Will Not Have to Transact Business

Washington March 11. Speaker
Champ Clark won't have to see Wil-
liam Jennings Bryan who he regards
as his bitter enemy because of his
Baltimore convention to have certain
of his Missouri candidates for dip-
lomatic and consular posts consid-
ered. The speaker will take his list di
rect to President Wilson. Announce-
ment was made today explaining that
senators and representatives have a
constitutional right to have the sug
gestions considered by the president.
President Wilson said he would
use his own discretion in their casea
whether to send the names they pre-
sented back to cabinet members to;1
the silting process.

lahoma congressmen went on record
today as opposed to the select ion of
postmasters by volunteer primaries.
On this subject they adopted the
following resolution:
"Whereas The last state democrat-
ic convention held in August 1912
at Oklahoma City decided by an
overwhelming majority against pri
mary nominations for postmaster un-
less ptoperly safeguarded by hu'
therefore be it
"Uesolved That we are opposed to
primary nominations or elections for
'ostmasters in Oklahoma until there
is an adequate law to safeguard the
same against corruption and that we
do not deem ourselves bound bv
such primaries or elections until
protected by proper legal safeguard-."
