Another Home Plant
At a meeting of business men held
Friday afternoon the question of
sweet potato growing and a sweet
potato canning plant was discussed.
Statistics were produced to show that
this section of Oklahoma raises as
many potatoes to the acre as any oth-
rr portion of the United States. The
pr tatoos grown here are of a better
quality than those grown In many of
the other states. It was also brought
out that potato canning plants can-
rot keep tip with their orders and
that there Is a demand for other
pliwis of this kin-.l.
Secretary West of the Commercial
f.luh stated that from 2000 to 2.'(l0
litres would be devoted to sweet po-
tnioes In Carter county this year and
that this supply would be sufflelent
tr operate n caniilng plant nird would
leave a margin to be used In creating
a market for thn Oklahoma sweet
pitato. The Interest In this meeting
I sufficient to Justify the prediction
that if the matter Is taken up by a
committee from the Commercial club
that such a plant can be built In this
city.

Ing Local Team.
President John Owens of the Ard
mere Baseball club Is authority for
the statement that a committee will
work this week raising a fund to
fiiance the local club of the Texas-
Oklahoma league. Although report-
lr? time Is near at hand no move
toward raising funds for a team here
has been made and unless a commit-
tee raises the necessary amount of
money the coming week the local
franchise and players will be sold to
some other town. The directors of
the club employed Art Xaylor a mem-
ber of last year's team 'to manage
the local club this year but there
the matter was dropped. Several
ihw men have been signed for this
year In addition to the players re-
served from the 1912 team. These
nien will be transferred with the
franchise to some other town if Ard-
mere fails to raise the necessary
funds.
