SUESFOR DAMAGES
EJECTED FROM ROCK ISLAND
TRAIN ASKS $10.0CO FOR INJUR-
IES RECEIVED AS RESULT.
Chickas-ha Okla. Nov. 13. In a
case that went to trial Wednesday
afternoon in the federal court here
before Judge I'oi John M. Tatter-
son asks the Rock Island Railway
company to pay him $10000 for in-
juries alleged to have been sustained
by him as a result of being ejected
from a train. The plainUff now re-
sides at Huso Okla. According to the
contention of the plaintiff Pat'erson
purchased a ticket at Memphis for a
point in Oklahoma lie got on the
train a". Memphis and gave the con-
ductor his ticket. At a station fur-
ther on the train crew was changed
and his ticket was again called for
but Patterson alleges that the first
conductor had kept the entire ticket
giving only a hat slip. The second
conductor carried the plaintiff to
Mansfield and there put him off when
he declined to pay fare.
The defendant contends that Pat'er-
Fon was carried as far as his ticket
entitled him to travel.
Pa'terson s young son was with him
and had a ticket all the -way through.
In order to be able to keep up w-ifh
the boy Patterson says he bo-urded
a freight train at Mansfield and was
exposed to severe weather and that
he also walked part of the way and
contracted pneumonia from expos-

Letters and Telegrams By Hundreds
to Members of Congress
Washington I). C Nov. 13. A
forerunner of the office hunting de-
luge which is. expected later as a con-
sequence in the change of the politi-
cal complexion of this administration
is being experienced already by dem-
ocratic senators -and memhersof the
house. Applicants have not begun
to arrive in persons but letters and
telegrams are coming by the hun-
dreds. "i was fearful that we might nt
find democrats to fill the offices b.tf.
I am being rapidly disillusioned.'
sa;d Senator Gore of Oklahoma as
today wth a sigh he laid down tele-
grams from two of his best friends
making applications for the eame
place.
Tp to date most of the applications
are for federal offices within the va-
rious states but some in'imatlons of
a wish to serve the country' abroad
or in the executive departments n
Washington have come to hand. Gen-
erally the writers confess a desire
to get on file early in order to fore-
stall others.
Many early boomers for Mr. Wil-
son have been discovered while oth-
ers indicate undying and undivided
loyalty to the congressmen to whom
their letters are addressed. Many of
the democratic statesmen are mak-
In;r provision for an extended system
of filing and generally they face the
outlook cheerfully.
There are between S.noo and 0000
presidential cstoffices to say noth-
ing of the execn'ive diplomatic and
other federal offices throughout the
federal otfice.
