Thanking My Friends.
To those who supported me in the
campaign that has just closed I wis.li
to extend my sincere thanks. While
it is true that I was defeated it is
also true that I have the consolation
of knowing that the people who knew
me best were the ones who worked
hardest for my election.
I am also conscious of having made
a clean campaign. I did not say a
word about one of my opponents that
I would not say at any place on earth.
As to whether I will again enter
politics remains to be seen. The race
I ran was upon the whole a very com-
plimentary one in view of the fact
that I had less than fifty dollars to
spend and that was spent for board
and lodging for myself and horse.
So again I wish to say that I sin-
cerely thank everyone who voted for
me in any way furthered my can-
didacy. Yours respectfully
VIRGIL JOHNSON.
