FORFEITED YESTERDAY
ARDMORE'S FRANCHISE DECLAR-
ED FORFEITED YESTERDAY BY
PRESIPENT. "
FLIGHT IS A SUCCESS-
Over Mead-
Ardmore's baseball franchise in
the Texas-Oklahoma league was for-
feited yesterday and this city will be
wiped off the baseball may by noon
tomorrow unless the people set busy.
A mass meeting has 'been called
for tile assembly room of the county
court house this afternoon at 3
o'clock to determine what eourso
will be taken.
Krrett Dunlap a director of the
local club telegraphed President
Warren last nitrlit asking that the
forfeiture be held up and received
the following from Mr. Warren who
is president of the Texa.vOkluhoma
Baseball League:.'' : '""-- :
'Funds sufficient to insure Aid-
mare club carrying out' schedul"
must be secured by noon Monday
otherwise I will declare franchibe
forfeited."
The attendance at the games nere
this 'season has not been sufficient
to carry the team and the subscrip-
tion plan was resorted to but the
'people have fallen down on t-eir
promises with the result that the
clu'j is several hundred dollars be-
hiutf" with tin players' salaries.
!t is needless to state ..what It I
would mean to Ardmore to lose her '
ball club. The 'present club is the
first winning team that has repre- I
sented this fity since orga-ni;ed'
ball was secured. Hie first half oi
the season ends one weeli from to-
morrow. The teams win tnen wipe
out and stait anew. The 'present Ard-
more team is conceded everywhere
around the ?ircuit as the best in
the league and if the people here
will stand behind the team In a
financial way the second half will
he won by Ardmore.
It is essential that everyone mer-
chant professional men and all who
have the welfare of Ardmore at heart
attend the mass meetrna this after-
noon. Action musr .be Aiken or Ardmore
positively will lose a winning ball
team and her franchise. Financial
support 13 being given to the other
clubs in this league and Ardmore
can and will do the same.
