LAEOR GIVEN
OF A FULL
LEMON INSTEAD
DINNCR PAIL.
Editorially yesterday we comment-
ed upon the beautiful silence being
maintained by I'residen; Taft upon
the subject of the "full dinner pail."
Incidentally have any of the republic-
ans reminded any of us of this same
"full dinner pull?" For the past sev-
eral years an election has not come
that the republican press and the re-
publican stump speaker liad not a
lot to say about the "bread line" In
the days of Cleveland's administra-
tion and of Coxey's army. Hereto-
fore the press and the stump speaker
alike of republican faith have ripped
off column after column in a com-
parison f the days of labor stagna-
tion when Cleveland was president
with the full dinner pall under re-
publican regime. Great hands full of
feathers hae lcen snatched from the
tail of the long- suffering American
si-le and scattered broadcast upon
the four winds of heaven.. Knougn
hot air has been blown at the long
suffering voter upon this subject to
inflate the laraivt balloon every ninn-
ufcttired. Hut now never a word Is
being spoken upon this here-to-fore
ridden-to-death subject for campaign
oratory and political buncom.
Also we notice that republican ed-
itors are painfully silent upon the
rike troubles in the mill district
of the oast. 'Why in it they do not
point with pride to the deplorable
condition-i as they exist in the renter
t republicanism and tell us that
such ttr.ngs are made possible by the
f 'sterinn care of the C. O. 1'.? Truly
the republican editor can tell the
truth with pride and say that the pro-
tective tariff the high protective ta-
riff as advocated and enforced by h'fl
narty has led to the present condi-
tion of affairs in the cast. No one
will try to steal his thunder when
be toils us of tho factory hands
belli; enabled to work ten hours a
!.iv for sown dollar-; a week Wc.

found that their bid would approxi-
