Senator Horah said that both par-

Senator Horah was speaking In do-
! f. nse of the primary system which
had been assailed by many senators
in their discussion of the investiga-
tion of the -ise of Senator Stephen-
son of Wisconsin. Defending the pri-
mary B.vstem he said no one ever con-
tended it would make all candidates
decent and a'l nn-n honest. "You had
jut as w ll declaim against the
whole moral law of Sinai and the
statutes which define and punish
crime because after three thousand
years notwithstanding the statutes
men still commit crimes" he said.
"Corruption cannot live under the
primary H.vHteni" said Senator Borah
"if men have the courage as they
will have to punish those who stantl
exposed. A primary system accom-
panied with a corrupt practice act
will make it impossible to control
our elections by the use of money.
Senator Stephenson could have put a
million Into a caucus and brought his
purchased parchment of election here
and the chances would have been one
in ten thousand i.luu it would ever
have been shown. Hut he put in a hun-
dred thousand dollars and even with-
out a corrupt practice act and with
an attempt to destroy original mem
oranda the exposure Is nevenneless
complete ami the only thing now left
to be determined Is the judgment of
the Senate."
It was argued by Senator Floral)
that if a rich man has no qualifica-
tion for office other than bis money
it will cost him money to run. Hut
if the candidate represents some ques-
tion of great moment the senator
said "if he deals in Ideas and issues
instead of patronage ami checks he
will win over all the money you can
put into the light. One of the wry
things lor which I hold Senator Ste-
phenson responsible in this lampaign
is thai he entered (he race with Ins
bank account for his platform."
Senator I'.crah denied that primal
ies have disorganized parties. II-
condemned the old caucus system
ii politics anil pronounced it til-'
iiios '"vicious treacherous subtle
venal influence" ever operated t"
th" detriment of the people.
"I'anies nine and go live and
die." said Senator Itorah. "They com.-
with a message. They live so long
as tliev offer to the voters a concrete
and constructive plan with which to
deal with human interests and hu-
man welfare-- liny die when aban-
doning all principal and all iiolicies

and power and engage alone in tic

METHODIST SCHOOL
TOWN HAS FAILED TO MAKE
GOOD THE AGREEMENT REMO-
VAL IS TALKED.
(lutiiiie Onla. March 1'7 That
C itiirie is in danger of lo--ing the Ok-
lahoma Methodist university former-
ly Kpworth university at Oklahoma
Citv is a menace that is causing much
anxiety here although the chamber
of commerce and prominent titizens
are exerting everv effort to prevent
tiie disaster.
The realty firm of (iatl'ev vi McCoy
originally agreed to donate a site and
give $1011000 in cash for the location
of the big Methodist institution of
learningn that the citizens of Guthrie
were to raise a bonus of $.V.Onu and
purchase sufficient lots in the (iaff-
ney and McCoy addition to in a large
measure warrant the donation from
that firm.
Because of the depression and slow
sale of town lots it is said the realty
dealers assert it Is not possible for
them to fulfill their part of the a-ree-metit.
The matter has been brought to the
attention of the chamber of com-
merce and that organization is de-
vising ways and means to prevent
the removal of the big school and a
member of that hotly said today that
it is not likely Cuthrie will fail to
rise to the emergency.

of the gas pressure shows it to be
good for more than fin.nnn.nOfl cubic
feet of gas per day.
The People's Gas company was or-
ganized for the purpose of supplying
gas to towns along the M. K. & T.
fly. from Henrietta to Denison and
Sherman.
The well was drilled to depth of
1 !."." feet and the gas k said to con-
