TURKEYS EAT BUGS.
Thanksgiving Day Bird Savior of
Potato Crop.
Qreely, Colo., May 88.—The
Thanksgiving day bird is being hail-
ed as the savior of the potato crop
in this community. It haa been dis-
covered the turkey Is very fond of
the potato bug, which in turn is the
parasite that makes potato growing
a game of chance.
A. W. Fry, living a mile south of
Pierce, accidentally discovered the
turkey's penchant for bugs. He no-
ti ed his flock working in and out
among potato plants nnd Investigat-
ed. They had practically rid the
portion of the field in which they
ware noticed, ot the destroyer. Ha
sprssd ths nsws among his nel -h-

has ordered turkeys with which to
fight the bags.

CHARGES CENSUS IS PADDED
Wichita, Kas., has preferred
charges againat Oklahoma City be-
fore the cenaua department, alleging
that Oklahoma City has padded her
cenaua. The rumor went out a few
days gao that Oklahoma City would
ahow 67,000 people. Wichita has no
expectation of reaching that number
and doea not believe Oklahoma City
can exceed 40,000, with a fair count.
It ia charged that Oklahoma City cop-
lea namea on all hotel registers dur.
ing the taking of the census, and
waa counting more people than !ivu:l
in Oklahoma county. The censua de-
partment at Washington haa sent no
tlce to J. H. Langston, supervise
of the Oklahoma district, and re
quested him to make a report as t)
what is going on. Other methods of
investigation are said to be in pro?,
ress.
