In the district court this morning
Judge Burwell granted a contin-
uance for term, in the case of John
W. Noble, indicted upon two char
ges of murder,
John Shirk and H. C. Ocheltree,
attorneys for Noble, in their motion
for continuance, allege that it is nec-
essary for certain depositions to be
taken, in the state of Ohio, where
Noble formerly lived, that will have j
much bearing upon the case with
reference to the insanity of their
client.
Noble is the man who shot down
Geo. Williams and John Thompson
in the Stag Bar upon the night of
October 1. The killing of these two
men is supposed to have been en-
tirely without provocation.
Ever since this horrible tragedy
was committed., Noble has appeared
to be mentally unbalanced
It is thought that unless he is
found to have been insane at the
time he committed this rash act, it
will be very difficult for him to es-
cape being swung from the scaffold
