ANNUAL POULTRY SHOW
County Agent N'elmi, Home Demon-
stration Agent Mrs VV. L. Breckner
and others from this ounty attended
the annual show of the Latimer Coun-
ty Poultry Association at Wilburton,
last week, and report an excellent ex-
hibit of birds.
"There wa.> a good showing of the
fowls," said Mrs. Breckner," the main
draw-back to the show being the ab-
sence of proper show-coopo. This,
however, can easily be remedied in
another show year. Much interest v :i considerable
taken in the show by the people of
the county, and we are expecting a
return visit from the leading poul-
try fanciers of the co"nty at our ex-
hibit here next week."
The party from here made th trip
by auto, and report the roads in fine
shape at that time.
Safe-blowers were busy at the of-

off a lock. At presumably the same
time the storage rooms of the Rogers

CILLES SALE NEXT
WEDNESDAY. BIG E\ ENT
One of the most interesting sale
events of the fall season is that at
the John P. Gilles farm, near Ward
Springs next Wednesday, December
Mr. Gilles lives on Route One, out
from Stuart, and has arranged a big
barbecuo in addition to the sale for
that day. A feature of his sale will be
the auctioning off of his fine farm of
; more than 400 acre*. Mr. Gilles will
also sell an extensive lot ->f livestock,
fecJ and farm equipment. He has
made a success of farming in this ex-
cellent section o! the county, and has
built up a good plantation. Cols. Lat-
imer and Ball will handle the sale for
Mr. Gilles and both are looking for-
ward to a big sale event.
McIntosh County is endeavoring to
get three of the arm> trucks to be
apportioned in this state for road
work. The county commissioners went
up last week to drive one of the trucks
home.

BICKLE AMONG SHIPPERS
Bud Bickle, of Crowder, was on th<-
Oklahoma CiU market last week with
nearly 50 head of good market cattle.
He drove the cattle through to this
point, from near Crowder, for ship-
ment over the Rock Island. Luther
Farmer, also of this city, shipped i.
car of hogs to the O. C. market at th"
fame time. Mr. liirkle is one of the

MULE GOES MAD AND
BITES SEVEN OTHERS
A mu!>, offl'rted with rabies as th"
result of a dog-bite about a month
ago, last week hit seven other mules
on the farm of Pink Pierce, near Ki-
owa. The mad mule was killed and
the other animals put under treat-
ment to save them if possible. The
dog in question came through the
settlement and hit a number of ani-1
mals, including the mule. It was kill-
ed an an examination showed that it
had rabies. When the male developed
the disease it went rampant and at-
tacked everything in « ght before it
was finally killed.

KIRBY DOBBS QUITS
DAISY BUSINESS HERF.
J. K. Dobbs, who has conducted one
of the principal dairies of this sec-
tion for several years, has decided to
jro out of the doir, business, owing
to the continued ill health of Mrs.
Dobbs.
In connection with h:> retiring from
the dairv fieM. Mr. I>obb announce-
a sale of his fine dairy herd, to be held
at his home ia North McAlester. Dec-
ember 3l He will dispose of about 50
head of heavy milkers, including Jer- |
seyii, Holsteiaa and Durham*. A large
part of the cattle are subject to reg-
istry, and during his dairy business
Mr Dobbs has followed the practice
of breeding to pure-bred sires which
has enabled him to cull his herd to
an unusually excellent standard. Col.
Fred Groff will handle the austioneer-
ing end of the sale. R. E. Hall, of this
eity, will act as clerk.
Mr Dobbs expresses, by the way,
th* keenest nt'-factior. at the succe-
pouible in the dairy business here to
the man who goes into it as u busi-
ness.
According to the Holdenville Trib-
une, $60,000 worth of pure-bred live-
s-tock, mostly cattle and hogs, have
been brought into Hughes County
during the past year. "Drive through
our county from any direction and
you will see that the scrub cows, hors-
es, hogs, etc, are rapidly disappear-
ing," declares the Tribune.
