At Work on Road
O. M. Cole, who has the con-
tract of grading First street be-
tween the Katy and Frisoo traoks
commenoed work Monday and
has aoomplished a great deal al
ready. Owing to a soaroity of
teams Mr. Cole is not enabled to
push the work as he would like,
but expects to oomplste his con-
tract next week. The crushed
rook is being plaoed on this end
of the grade, Marshal Dunoan
being in charge. Only one team
oould be secured to haul rook,
but others will be added as they
oan be hired. The great amount
of work that is bein£ d«o« along
all lines has resulted in a scarcity
of help.
After the completion of his
contract Mr. Cole will grade the
Arthur & Standtsh gin site to
about two feet abov* its present
level.
Luther 4; Wellston 3
One of the most hotly oontsst-
ed ball games of the season was
played between Luther and
Wellston Sunday on the Luther
diamond. The game was pro-
nounced by many as being the
most interesting and the fastest
of the season. Both sides played
good ball, but in all fairness
-Luther outplayed the visitors.
The soore of 4 to 3 would have
been 4 to 2 had It not been for a
couple of errors on Luther's part
in the last half of the eigth in-
ning whioh allowed the Wellston
boys a soore.
The visitors were yery confi-
dent before the game as they
have won over all the teams of
the Lincoln oounty league.
The day was exoessively warm
but notwithstanding that the
game was attended by a fair
Bised crowd.
