The defeated men for thn republican
nomination are said to fear that John
Mitchell will become the running ma to
of Bryan and w nt to offset his pr

Three Propositions that May Create
a Fight
Chicago. June 13,-OJnited Press, i
—The greatest Interest centers today
in the platform. There are three prop,
ositions in Taffs draft that it is pre-
dicted will create a fight ot no small
magnitude. They are the anti-injunc-
tion plan, requiring the railroads to
secure the consent of the Interior com-
merce commsslon before they can U-
buo bonds, ni amendment to the anti-
trust law. The fight now is to contn 1
the resolution committee.
The Taft men want the resolutions
reported as they are and without any
change, while the opponents of the dls-
puted panks are trying to control the
committee, to as Co "tone down" the
utterances. The question of the vice
presidency is still an open one, an-l
to be decided later on. The Taft lead-
ers are looking to the east for a can-
didate.

Oklahoma Fever.
A new disease is just now receiving
the attention ot physicians and oth-
ers. For want of a better name It u
called Oklahoma fever. The ailment
develops rapidly, especially among
persons who havo been living In cities
of the north and east where the spirit
of progress dwells but Bleeps most of
the time, and have come to the forty
sixth state. Its first symptoms are
shown In dreams of great wealth an
| good fellowship, gradually developing; aciiemo.
S into an awakening, like a giant ot
! good courage and good cheer, at the
sound of the trumpet which calls tho |
host of town builders together to fight
for their rights and their advance-
ment. As the dlseaso progresses tho
mind of the afflicted dwells constant-
ly upon the thought of loyalty to home
merchants and home Industries. The
only remedy that hat teen found V
be effective Is "absent treatment.
Persons who have been afflicted pre-
fer the disease to the treatment and
nearly every one In Shawnee has ar-
ranged to be exposed. No person, even
in the first stages of the disease, has the trial,
yet failed to buy his lumber, snnti,
doors and mill work from the Snaw-
nee Planing Mill Co., at the corner
of Ninth and Market streets. It is
part of the disease to think of this
home industry and tho retail lumber
yard connected with the factory. Do
not fall to expose yourself by shak
Ing hands with any of Shawnee's loyal
citizens. There Is hardly a man with
out the disease and none are seeking
the cure.
