At least two Shawnee men have be-
come thoroughly convinced that
Shawnee real eBtate Is a little bit
nhead of any other realty In the en-
tire slate. They recentl> Invested In
some El Reno lots. Sunday tiiey took
a trip to El lteno to see the lots, and
also to view tho great Rock Island
slumps being built there. It took but
a few minutes to bring dlsalluslon-
ment. They found their lots in the
rlvea* bottom, where, as one of the
men put It, "you would have to put
them up on stilts and anchor them
with a rope to tell where they were
at In the spring time." The great
Rock Island shops, which were to
Put Shawnee on the hummer, are
ocimpleted, and consist of a round-
house,—a very fine one, by the way,—

that will hold about two engines and
men.
It Is true that some train crews

will be removed to El Reno, but they
will not be taken from Shawnee. "I
did think," said one of the investors,
that El Reno would surely get our
shops, but I realize that there is no
possibility of such a thing, I would
rather put my money into lots two
miles from Shawnee rather than in
some of tlie choice city property of
El Reno."
El Reno real estate men have made
a serious mistake in trying to boom
their city at the expense of Shawnee.
It has put people not only of Shaw-
nee but Oklanoma City and other
places to investigating, and the true
conditions are soon learned. There
Is no doubt but that El Reno Is a
progressive and growing city, and will
eventually become a place of some
importance on the railroad map. She
has Shawnee's best wishes for any-
thing wthlch she goes after in a legi-
timate way. But the tactics em-
ployed by her real estate men, who
are carrying about the country blue
prints of the "proposed railway shops"
will prove a boomerang. El Remo
will feel the shock when the blows
struck against sister cities come back
home.

7:30 p. m. Over 1500 people who
gave a close and respective attention
to the services at the inside meet-
ing. There ihave ben in attendance
about 200 people. We took on the
street three collections to help Miss
Sallie Moore, a faithful mission work-
er of Shawnee, and who has recently
lost her brother, who was with her in
the mission work ihere. These offer-
ings were for her and she is grateful
for the same. We in our work take
no offering on the street to support
the work but do on the inside, and
have received during the week $5.11,
and have expended for coal 20 cents.
There are other expenses yet to be
met. This hall was placed at our dis
posal for two weeks and we trust that
those who are interested will assist
so the work can become a permanent
thing in the oity. We are men of fam-
ilies and will birng them to Shawnee
if the mission is carried on with
grateful work for all and a hope of
success in our work. We remain.
