Fine Corn.
Dr. W. E. McDivitt, who resides at
422 North Broadway, brought a fine
sample of corn to The News office,
Saturday evening. He stated that it
was raised on his farm near this city
and averages 80 bushels to the acre.
While on a recent visit to Illinois, he
was questioned many times as to
whether corn could be raised here, and
has proved that this is as good a corn
country as it is for cotton or any
other product.

At the Owl Drug Store.
An Awful Cough Cured.
"Two years ago our little girl had
a touch of pneumonia, which left her
with an awful cough. She had spells
of coughing, just like one with the
whooping cough and some thought
she would not get well at all. We
got a bottle of Chamberlain's Cough
Remedy, which acted like a charm.
She stopped coughing and got stout
and fat," writes Mrs. Ora Bussard,
Brubaker, 111. This remedy Is for
sale by the Owl Drug Store, C. R. Har-
ryman, F. A. Reynolds & Son. *

Atto'rney Carter Has Arrived to Join
His Partner.
Geo. S. Carter, of the law firm of
Carter & Morgan, arrived in Shaw-
nee, Saturday, after a sojourn In Cali-
fornia, tile land of sun-set, and Old
Mexico, for the past six months, .and
will now settle down to business with
his law partner, D. H. Morgan. Mr.
Carter's parents moved to this city ^
J some few weeks ago and are now per
luanently located.
I The new firm of Carter & Morgan
opened their office in Shawnee several
months ago, Mr. Morgan being the
first to hang the shingle and await
the coming of clients. But he did not
have to wait very long, being a hust-
ling and enterprising young man, IT
was not long until he gathered around
him a large number of friends, who in
turn became more or less identified
with his business interests and legnl
docket, and today the firm of Carter
S. Morgan stands second to none of the
young firms of this city.
With the coming of Attorney Geo.
S. Carter, who is a graduate of the
State University of Kansas, a son of
the "Owl Sod," and a wide awake
young man, full of enthusiasm, not-
withstanding the fact that he is n
Democrat, the new firm promises to
enter upon a new era of progress, and
will be greatly strengthened, which in j
conjunction with good, honest, hard >
work will net the best of results.
Ideal Home and School

urday afternoon. She was the recip-
ient of many presents which will serve
as mementoes of the occasion.
