taw of Wade county, committod
suicide on Monday the Bud inst.
He had beo:i in town all day and
seemed in his usual spirits. He
returned home lute in the evening
and found his wife and family ab-
sent. Having hod some family
troubles before it is supposed that
he became despondent^und shot
himself on that account.

The K. of r. picnic and*t>arbp-
cue on the 4th was a success in
every way. A large crowd was
in attendance and all seemed to
be enjoying themselves when we
' isited the grounds during the
afternoon. Bread and barbecue I
meat were furnished in abundance
to all. There was but one thing
to mar the pleasures of the entire
day and that was a luck of drink-
ing water for the ladles and chil-
dren.

the loss of a watch chrrm, pre-

Mike Hamby has opened up a
new stock of merchandise and in-
vitos one and all to call on him.

for the local freight and our Mr.
Davis furnishes the meals for the
crews.
The people of fliig place and
surrounding community enjoyed
themselves at a btubocuo at this
place on the 4th. The day was
quito pleasant and all seemed to
have a pleasant time. Dinner in
a bounteous quantity was served
on the ground.
Our Bonnie Chief Sunday school
is progressing nicely, with a large
attendance. We. also have preach-
ing once a mouth and prayer
meeting once a week with good
rosults. The people of this neigh-
borhood are trying to serve the
Lord, and try try to leu<! their
children in tlm right way.

Miss Jo Lyons, of Paris, Texas,
died very suddenly at Mouett, Mo.,
last Thursday morning. She visit-
ed here while on her way to Mo-
jiett and made many friends who,]

She had not been focling well for

death was caused by becoming

A man named Wesley Robins,
who has been engaged in plunder-
ing houses and stealing horses,
was captured near here about two
weeks ago and taken to Fort
Smith.
Last Sunday two moro plunder-
ers aud horse thieves in the per-
sons of a man and a woman passed
through hero. They also were
tblowed but had not been captured
ot last accounts.
The plundering footmen spolteu
of in my last communication were
followed by citizens into Arkansas
until overtaken, and as they re-
sorted to fighting one was shot to
death and the other landed in the
Waldron jail. The one captured
was a i4*a who had lived at Geo.
