work for the whole city.
This eternal jangle gentlemen is driv-
ing money from our city every day.
Thk city of El Reno has an outstand-
ing indebtedness of over $!t,000 and
scrip is worth but 40 cents on the
dollar.
If It has no other effect the action of
Secretary Hoke Smith in suspending
pension payment will give the exarnlne-
ing boards thousands of dollars.
Abraham Lincoln 0QC6 (Aid tli.tt "a
house divided against Itself could not
stand." It was a truth. It is a truth,
and applies as well to a town the size of
Norman.
Thk fact that Norman needs a good
system of waterworks is becoming
plainer every day. With absolutely no
tire protection how can it be otherwise?
Thk president's proclamation to open
the Cherokee Strip to settlement has
been prepared but not yet issued' The
present outlook is that it will be made
public early in August.
Thk death of ex-governor Wm. M.
Stone at Oklahoma City is an occurrence
that will be heard of with regret by a
wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
He was a distinguished gentleman and
widely known.
It Is gratifying to Oklahoma people
to know that amid all the financial
flurry of the present times, not a bank-
failure lias so far occurred here. The
people of this county back their in-
stitutions with their money and con-
fidence.
"Wk'm, remember, yes, we'll remem-
ber ' is the silent refrain that comes
from the rank and file of the citizens of
Cleveland county, as they look over the
commissioners proceedings. Although
quite a number of bills were disallowed.
If any of our patrons have such
antipathy to silver that it causes them
unhappiness, they are Invited to call
and dump a few dollars with the Tran-
script. We may not just exactly like
the shining metal but we have not yet
reached a stage of dislike where we can
not xttord to receive it.
Too much anxiety to locate a stranger
in any certain portion of the city may
result in driving him away. All your
attention devoted to your own property
and none to j our neighbors will ruin
the town, and with it. your property.

ported from America In vast quantities
to supply the shortage. It now looks
as though the demand throughout the
entire United States will be greater
than the supply and that the Oklahoma

will get a good price for it.
