Hold Meeting
The was a meeting of represen-
tative business men of Dover
held in the bank building Mon-
day night, at which time the
mutter of incorporation for Do
ver was taken up and threshed
out.
V. D. Wessel was chosen chair-
man of the meeting, and as there
was little to be done except or-
ganize and appoint committees,
the meeting did not last late.
On motion the chair appoint-
ed a committee of five to gather
data, etc., relative to incorpora-
tion, and instructed the commit-
tee to report bsck at the next
meeting which will be held Mon-
day night, March 18. The com-
mittee appointed were: V. D.
Wessel, Ohas. Sherwood, Don
North up, Pete Miller and W. K.
Barrett.
Everybody interested in the
future of Dover is urgently re-
' quested to be present at the next
meeting. The time has come
when the tares must be separated
from the wheat, and in this pa-
triotic day you should display
your colors.
THE PASSING OF A
NOBLE CHARACTER
An Old Resident of Dover
Dies at Lovell.
On Saturday, February I *>. .it
10 o,clock p. m., at the home of
his son C. L Jones near Lovell,
Okla.. occurred the death ol
James J. Jones, one of the pio-
neers of Kingfisher county and
Dover vicinity.
"L'ucle Jimmie," as we were
used to calling him, was well
known by all the old settlers at
and near Dover, having located
on a homestead a mile northwest
of town when old Oklahoma was
opened for settlement and w here
with his estimable wife, son Jim
and grand-daughter Ida, now
Mrs. Link Bart of Enid, he re-
sided something like 15 years.
"LJncle Jimmie" was bore, at
Rushville, Indiana, May 2, 1620,
lacking only a few months of
reaching the remarkable age of
93 years. He was married to
Miss Margaret Patton at Troy,
Missouri, July 30, 1845, and cel-
ebrated their 73rd w edding an-
niversary on July 30th last year.
To Mr. and Mrs. Jones were
born fourteen children, only four

many anniversary dinneis at his
home on the farm partici-

from the surrounding country;
the bountifully filled baskets; the
hospitabla welcome and the
spirit ol good cheer.
Would that the world possess-
ed more men like him; and as I
pen these lines in memory of
him, his life though gone out; will
be a living benediction to all who
knew his sterling character.

Monday and Tuesday in Dover,
where he held a school of insinua-
tion in Masonary Monday and
Tuesday nights. Members of
the Kiel lodge were in attendance,
as well as members of the Dover
lodge. The masonic lodge is a
pretty strong one in Dover.
