Some Doubts Exist of Bryan Being
Able to Secure the Alabama
Delegates if Left to
THE SELECTION OF CONVENTION
Mobile, Ala., April 2.-—(United
Press)—The democrats are now pro-
posing to put Bryan's name on the
stato ticket to be voted for at tne
state primary May 18th. Five hun-
dred signatures are necessary before
this can be done under the laws of
the state, which it is thought can be
easily obtained in a few days if an
effort Is made. With Bryan nomin-
ated from the state at large it w -uld
secure the state to do him In spue
of whatever opposition that might bo
developed in tho convention to name
the delegate s to the national con-
vention at Denver. There is consid-
erable opposition to tho Nehraskaii
in various parts of tho state and it
aeems to bo growing in strength, suf-
ficiently so to create a suspicion that
Ills name might be dropped in tho
s'ate convention and some other sub-
stituted more to tho liking of tho Jef-
ferson branch of tho democratic par-
ty.
