The sixteenth annual aessloa of the
Gr .iLodge, Knights of Pythiaa, end-
ed yesterday afternoon, with the elee
tlon of these offlcers for the ensuing
year and the selection of Enid as the'
■eit meeting place of the grand lodge.
The date is not named. Almost the
entire day was spent in the election
of the officers and for several of the
positions there was a spirited con-
teat
In the morning the delegates and
riaiting knights were joined Id their
parade through the streets by the
members of the Oklahoma and Indian
Territory Firemen's association, who
are holding their annual meeting here.
The parade was led by a platoon of
mounted police, followed by the band,
fire Chief Msrk Kesler, firemen, the
local fire department, grand lodge of-
ficers, delegates, uniform rank, and
carriages containing ladies.
At the lodge hall following his elec-
tion as grand chancellor, D. Rupert
at Okeene announced the appointment
of Bob Williams as grand lecturer for
the coming year. There were several
candidates for grand keeper of rtcords

Five Burglaries.

who is a drummer, returned home at
3:30 a. m, from a trip on teh road
and on entering saw a negro going
through his clothes. He attempted
to seize the Intruder, but the latter
drew a pistol and fired four shots at
Gillipsie, none of which took effect
The negro then made his escape from

A description was given to the police
yesterday, but no arrests have been
made.
There were five burglaries here last
night, but no arrests were made.

Congressman McGutre Predicts Pas-
sage of Statehood Bill.
Washington, May 10.—As a result
of frequent conferences with Speaker
Cannon and other leaders, Delegate
McGuire has received additional as-
surances of the prospect of statehood
materializing at an early date. He
nays that the conferees will undoubt-
edly get busy immediately after the
senate passage of the railroad rate
regulation bill which will be in the
next five or six days.
