NEWS NOTES.
Burks and Mades have desolved
partnership.
Mesdarties Babcock and Davis are
both much better.
H. J. Shaver returned from New
Mexico last Saturday.
The Masonic lodge are figuring on
building a second story to the Dr.
Howard building, to be erected for a
lodge room.
Fred Patten says that the hog
market in Edmond is ten cents above
Oklahoma City. The best hogs are
bringing $6.60.
Mrs. G. G. Richardson and little
girl left Tuesday to join Mr. Richard-
son o-i the claim in Roger Mills
county. Lizzie and Osia will stay
here until school is out.
The chicken theives were abroad in
the land again last Friday night and
t">ok 11 of Joy J. Perry's Light Brah-
mas that he has been selling for a
dollar a piece. Joe Tyler lost twenty
and has offered a reward of $25.00 for
the arrest and conviction of the theif.
The week before the chickens of J. C.
Fisher were taken.
James Stewart purchased the
Thatcher home for $1200 and the
Correcta Drummond house built by
Amos Fraim for $800. He will move
into the Thatcher property at once.
Prof. Thatcher will move to the James
Brown house vacated by Mr. Dobson,
who moved to the farm. Prof Thatch-
er will begin at once to build a modern
house on his lots next to W. S. Pat-
ten's.
The ladies of the Presbyterian
church will have their pillow sale and
Easter bazar, April 2nd and 3rd. All
the ladies of Edmond who desire some-
thing beautiful for Easter presents and
cozy corners, will be given a chance
to satisfy their artistic tastes. In con-
nection with their bazar a spelling
match will be the attraction on Friday
evening, April 3rd, from 8 to 9 o'clock.
The best speller is to receive a beau-
tiful pillow.

John Ecker, who bought the Tread-
way place, arrived from Nebraska, last
week. He Is an uncle of Mrs. Paul
Hanke. The jolly germans from the
neighborhood came in to help Mr.
Ecker unload his car and one of the
funniest things in a century was to see
them pulling up to the track with a big
legged horse on one side of the wagon
pole and Fred Slahn holding up the
other side of the pole. It Is said that
even Fred shied at the cars pretty bad.
Paul Hanke led the horse, and when
he got to jollying Slahn about being a
horse, Fred got even by calling Hanke
the lead mule. The affair caused a
great laugh.
