What kind of a picture has any one in Tulsa ever fud a chance to bay before at $10 $20 25 or even $50 And yet even among these 39 pictures that are noted above as having no bid there are pictures by artists who have
been honored by medals in the world's greatest exhibitions and some of these pictures represent the artist at his best and you have a chance today to secure these pictures by placing five per cent bids on them. Tomorrow
will likely be too late to secure a five per cent bid on any picture in this sale. .
Pictures That Have No Bids
No. 55. Day is Done by FELIX RUSSMAN is an fine a picture as there is in this entire collec-
tion and if this picture had on it the name of Innes or Wyant or Blakelock it would be woth' $1500
and yet for two days it has hung waiting; for some appreciative buyer who could only afford to pay $20
for a picture and might buy thia little masterpiece of a young master at the first bid of $20.
No. 56. Autumn Sunset by RUSSMAN is a picture that won a prize last March in a collection of
over a hundred fine paintings shown at Richmond Ind. This picture won the second prize and a work
of Bundy'8 won the first. I believe this picture is worth $500 and if any one buys this picture for less
than $40a they can kfep it for 30 days and at the end of 3a days' time if they do not like it they can
bring it to the Tulsa Arttore and Mr. Wetzell is empowered to give them my check for $400 for this pic
ture. I know its value. Once this artist -comes into his own which I predict will not be very long lie
had the Hallgarten prize last year in the National Academy for painting the best picture painted by an
American artist under 35 years of age and his prize picture was no finer in quality than Autumn Sunset.
No. 6. Evening's Approach by the much beloved BUNDY is the picture that has stood in the Tulsa
Art Store in the middle window for two days and is probably the most spirited and charming in color
of all the fine works of Bundy that I am offering in this sale. It must be that picture lovers did not
realize that this picture was included in the sale or certainly it would have at least the first bid of $40.
If I offered this picture in one of my Chicago sales at the same price $800 at which I am offering it
here it would sell at the full catalog price and if this picture were not in the sale no one could buy it for
one penny less than $800. I have no idea what it will bring in this sale but I have confidence in the
beauty of the picture and in the appreciation of Tulsa people for the beauty of the Autumn Wood-
land which Bundy interprets and so I put this fine picture in this sale.
Pictures That Have Only Five Per Cent Bids
No. 5 BUNDY At the Edge of the Woods price in the catalog $500 is-the picture that is illus-
trated at the bottom of page 5 in the catalog in which a sturdy old Iwach throws its limbs athwart a
clear sky. It is one of Bundy's finest works done direct from nature. The picture is hung where it gets
hardly any light and will no doubt soon receive its next bid of $50.
No. 7 Lingering Snow is an important and dignified work by BUNDY which smurely cannot stand
long at only $50 bid. Since I have left Chicago on this trip three important pictures by Bundy have
been sold at my Chcago Galleries leaving no works of his of importance there to offer. I will have a wait-
ing list for any important pictures of Bundy's surely after Holidays. I can only say to Tulsa people
that if they wish to buy Bundy's pictures this sale will give them the best opportunity they will ever
have as I can easily advance prices on his work and still sell them all readily.
No. 15 A Lowery Autumn Day by KITCHELIi is a work of fine quality which would hang with
credit in any fine collection alongside the best pictures that any amount of money could bay and 1 believe
that when bidders visit this sale today this picture is sure to have several more bids as the first bid of
$35 is foolishly low.
No. 81 Summer Fantasv by BALLARD WILLIAMS is another fine little picture by one of Amer-
ica's great painters. Mr. Williams seldom paints a small picture but this little work has in it all of
the beauty of color the fascination of composition and the bewitchment with which he introduces charm-
ing ladies into his landscapes that have made him so famous in his great pictures which grace the walls
of museums and collectors everywhere. Quite a number of his important works are owned here and this &
picture would hang creditably alongside of any of the finer large works whitn represent him in Tulsa and
anly $25 bid on it.
BIDDING IN THIS SALE WILL BE MORE SPIRITED AND RAPID. The next high bid may secure a fine picture at a bargain. Do not expect to come at the close of the sale and get the test bargains in the sale.
The best bargains will be secured" by those who come early and make the low bids. Sale Is open daily from 8 a. m. to 9 p. m. Catalogs can still be had upon application or request by mail telegraph or phone.
