ANNOUNCEMENTS.
FOR DKLKUATK.
At the solicitation of untnt'rouM friends und the unan-
imous action (of the Catoosa liepublirun club endorsing
my candidacy I have decided to submit ni.v unine to
the Republicans of the sixty-third district as a delegate
to the constitutional conventiou.
In making this announcement I desire to say that
I have no inteiest nor ambition to conserve except the
very highest and best interests of our district and the
coming great state of Oklahomu by forming Hie best
constitution that ever safeguarded the moral and mater-
ial interests of a state; securing to every citizen the great-
est measure of liberty consistent with good government
and the roBerity and happiness of our people.
I respectfully solicit the iufluence and support of the
Republicans of the sixty-third constitutional district in
the coming nominating convention and if nominated the
support of all good citir.ens.
JOHN' I. DKNH0.
The Kcpublicaii editors at Muskogee Monday adopted
iTMiliilioiis wliM'h were entirely uncnllcd for. It is all
lijihl to decline for and to work for scparutu schools
Imlli whiles and blacks favor this system but there is
no 1 ii in 1 1 I whatever for si'pinnte coaches and separate
nailing rooms. This is shown to lie true by the fuel that
line in Yiiiilu I'irii the democrats do not pi I'nitlier
than unking lor separate school ; separate niacin' anil
uniting iiioiiim are not iiii'iilionid.
I loHcvcr I lull- is no special sigiiilienncc in the n
s. lilt ions ailopted. They represent merely the pcrsi.nul
opinions of the editor who ueie present. The t'litoii.il
ic-. ilu l inns are merely the oiiteome of the peisi mil li'li!

recognize lllis I'aet and kep nut of the light ns the Chief
l.iin eeilainlv iiilemls tu do.--Vinita Chieftain.
FOR DKLKtJATK.
Having been solicited by friends and neighbors both
l home and over the entire 03rd district to enter the
race for constitutional delegate I have decided to offer
my name to the Republicans of said district as a dele
gate to the constitutional convention.
The fact that most towns and cities have been divided
in recent municipal elections etc. and 1 hut the farmers
have never had any representation in government and
that the new state is to be the home of the farmer I
believe a fanner centrally located in the district should
represeut the tiUrd district in the coining constitutional
convention.
In the event of my being nominated as delegate I
solicit the support of the voters of the district believ
ing that should 1 be elected I could represent and as
much as possible secure legislation for the welfare of the
entire district.
Respectfully submitted
JOHN W. HATCHER.

Bryan said eight and ten years ago that the dinner
pails of the country would he empty the people would go

tree silver and his oilier vagaries were adopted by the
American people. They have not been absorbed by the
American people and no greater period of prosperity
has ever been experienced in the history of the country

Now that Bryan has come and gone it is clear that
the republican press outdid the democratic press in its
welcome and report of the distinguished Nebraskan. A
representative of the World was the only member of the
local press to greet Mr. Hryan upon arrival in the city
and the World was the tirst and only paper to give the
speech correctly and in lull. The World is primarily and
essentially a newspaper.
The grades and levels of this city are as strange and
insolvable as a Chinese pu..lc. What we want is not so
much "tiguring " as we want sidewalks without so much
excavating the streets to bring them to the proper levt!
and also sidewalks that are in a straight line the entire
length of the street.
Tulsa is an ideal college town. The city is well and
rent rally located. Railways give access to (he eily fr:m
all direct ioiii. The advantages oT natural ua nr. must
appreciated by students in their study rooms. Above all.
j.i'-hiUlion will prevail tor the next twenty one years.
nnd the city will be a clean moral (ilac (or the parent
l.i s.itilv send their children.
The democrats of the Vinita district have nominated
W. II. Korncga for delegate to the constitutional conven
tiou. Mr. Korncga is opposed to the referendum and won
without opposition. Which shows how sincere the dem
ur rats are in insisting that their parly favors the tefer-
endiim and primary systems.

The jealous towns of the territory who have boasted
that Tulsa would never have a street railway should come
to the city and train their optics usm the rails and ties
now in place and being laid on Main street.

A Rain Mood.
We prayed for a day for rain
In the sunny summer weather
And for long hours spent together
In the heavy bush and gloom
Of a dusky silent room
And the palter of drops on the pane.
And n murmurous sigh in the leaves
And thesw ish of the rain in the eaves
And the tremulous trouble nnd start
Of the wind in the great tree's heart ;
We prayed for a day of rain
I bill the world might seem less wide
That severed us side by side
And the hum's might seem more long
Sung to the drowsy song
Of the matter of drops in the pane.
ror the glory and glamour and green
Were a barrier set between
Our souls th.1t strove to he one
In Ihe glare of the bla.iug sun.
We praved for a day of rain
And an exquisite iiilinitc tvnse
Of a being more intense
And the Heedlessness of speech
From the lips and hands of each
In the patter of the drops in the pane.
