OKLAHOMA CITY II. F Milton re-t.iriu-l

Some time ago Garrett & Sons of Norfolk Va. more
commonly known as "the Virginia Dare Wine Co.".
entered an interference in the patent office at Wash-
ington against our trademark "CLARO" claiming
they had been manufacturing and selling a soft drink
syrup under the name of "CLARO" for about a year
previous to the time we started using same which
claim being sustained by the government forced us
to abandon the use of the word "CLARO" and in its
place we are naming our drink "CECO" a word which
we have had registered as a trademark and will con-
duct our business in the future under the name of the
CECO SYRUr COMPANY.
This change is beyond our control but absolutely
necessary and in no way effects the standing of this
company financially or otherwise except the adver-
tising which we did on "CLARO" the past six months
and as SO per cent of our business this year is with
dealers in new territory who have never handled our
syrup under any name (their first shipment being
made since the first of January 1917) it will really
effect only about 20 per cent of our business as far as
previous advertising is concerned.
Yours respectfully
Ceco Syrup Company
