BEGIN WORK ON
CONCRETE ROAD
Sapulpa Commissioner Tuts
lVt Plan Into Actual
juilliii.
Sntil to The Wurd.
SAl'l'I.l'A Okln. Nov. 2. Work
will begin tomorrow on the concreto
road south of this city nnd will be
under the direct supervision of Kn-
gineer Ulnkley anil Commissioner J.
II. N. Cobb In whoso district the road
Is located. The road Is being built
for an experiment In one sense of the
word but Is being built on a road
thnt Is traveled as much ns any road
in the county nnd when completed
will have a chance of testing out the
durability and adaptability of con-
crete highways.
Mr. Obb's pet hobby Is pood roads
nnd he devoted more time to that
one thing than any other man In Iho
county. He is worth many times his
salary to the taxpayers of the county
and earns his salary every year in
jusi worKing the roads. It Is a pleas-
ure to him to get out and work tho
public roads nnd wants Creek county
to have the best In the state he says
and will not bo satisfied lit: til that is
nn actual fact.
The frames are all down for the
new roud. and It Is expected thnt tho
work will be accomulished in a very
short time. The concrete will be 10
feet wide und will have a parkway of
four feet of macadam on each side
of tho concrete.
Has lb-en (rndcil.
The road has been graded to the
stakes set by the county engineer
and everything Is ready for the work
to begin In the morning. The rock
In this road will be from the lime
stone quarry north of this city and
will be crushed by the new crusher
put In by the county Just recently.
This is one of the Improvements tnat
.Mr. Hobbs has been asking for In
these many years and has but Just
got It. The first rock to he crushed
by It will go Into this new concrete
road.
The county engineer claims that
there Is enough limestone In the hills
north of this city to macadam and
concrete every road In the county
and will be much cheaper than the
chat that lias been used heretofore.
The county owns the crusher and
will furnish the rock to all roads
needing them "Inside tho county Just
as fast as possible. The rock will
have to be purchased from me
owner Pert Weaver but with that
the cost will not be nearly what the
chat would cost.
If this road proves n success then
Creek countians can look for a largo
number of miles of concrete to be put
In within the next few yeatw.
