OKLAHOMA CITY Ftb. 0 -(Special
i Sitting as a eommlttea of the
whole the senate today decided to
permanently locate jhe state school
for the blind at Ft. GlbSOD where ll
Is now and to appropriate lt00Q for
buildings to be erected. After a two
hours fight during which propositions
from Oklahoma city Muskogee B)l
Reno and Wourka were voted down
the body decided to recommend for
passage Ihe liariet bill locating
school at Ft. Glbaon.
Prom what Governor ruce
said In the past about locating
school in on. of the large citlea in
the stale It Is believed he will vote
any bill locating it in Ft. Gibson.
Muat Donate a site.
The original bill by Senator Ggrret
carried an appropriation for $1 00000
for new buildings $10000 for a heat-
ing and laundry plant and 110.000 for
a site. As finally approved Ihe bill
carries $"000 for new building
$10 000 fur a power and laundry plant
all I i be paid from the game protec-
tion fund and provides that Ft. (Jib-
son must donate a site.
Senator Morton tried to locate the
school at Oklahoma City and Insinu-
ated that east side senators had made
a combination. This was resented by
several members. Senator Wilson
suggested El Reno and Senator Tin It-
er. Muskogee but all the amendments
met a quick death.
The senate committee on highways
brought in a split report on house
Mi by Ch Utters abolishing the state
highway department ihe majority
favoring the bill and the minority be-
ing against It. This measure will
meet with more opposition in lie- sen-
ale than It did In the house.
With Representative Dur.int In Ihe
chair Ihe bouse ground out bills
rapidly this afternoon and got a good
start towards cleaning up the calen-
dar. Two bills already passed by the
senate were passed on final roll call
and six house hills were perfected
and one killed.
Probably one of Ihe most Import-
ant action of the afternoon was on
the Pruett bill providing for the elec-
tion of the stale board of agriculture
by the stale at large. This repeals
the Campbell-Russell initiated bill
adopted at the general election last
fall. The Pruett bill was perfected
and passed to final roll call.
Blow for the Pre.
The Williams-Bar ret bill introduced
at the request of Ihe state press
association providing for the pub-
lishing monthly of all claims allowed
by cities townships and school dis-
tricts met some stormy opposition
and the bill was finally killed by a
close vote-
Without a dissenting vote the Mc-
intosh senate bill giving the corpora-
tion commission Jurisdiction of re-
fund cases was adopted with a com
mittee amendment. The bill with tho
amendment now goes back to the sen-
ate. After considerable debate the sen-
ate hill by Watrous making auto-
mobiles subject to attachment was
passed by a vote of 65 to 18 and now
goes to the governor for npprovnl.
The Coyne-Purry bill regulating
child labor was perfected nnd pnssed
to engrossment nnd similar action
was taken on the Curry-Williams pro-
hibiting the use of foreign labor on
public work.
