relatives here this week.
While in Spiro Wednesday we were
shown through the large department
stores of G. H. Duncan, Fannin-Moore
Mer. Co and Dorrough & Terrell.
These stores are as large as any to
be found in Ft. Smith, and especially
up-to-date is the large store of G. H.
Duncan, which is a 75x140 foot two
story brick and carries a stock of
goods valued at $75,000.00. The
proprietor of this store, Mr. Duncan,
is one of the "live wire merchants"
of Eastern Oklahoma who made his
start in Spiro. When asked by the
News editor what he thought was
the most valuable asset to a success-
ful business man, his answer was,
"lots of printers ink well distributed."
If you can't find trimming for your
drees come to us, we are positive we
can suit you. Wister Dry Goods Co.

Parker, W. C. Dunbar or Wister News
What came near being a the most
serious accidents that has happened
in Wister lately happened about nine
o'clock Friday morning when 0. G.
Bohannon was shot by Clifton Baldwin.
Clifton had gone into the back yard
at the home of his sister with a 22
rifle to kill a chicken and Mr. Bohan-
non was standing in the street about
100 yards away talking with Gene
Forbes when Clifton shot at the
chicken and the ball hit a rock and
glanced, hitting Mr. Bohannon just
above the left temple making a very
painful though not serious wound.
J. S. Traw and wife left Thursday
night for Dolores, Colorado to visit
their daughter Mrs. M. B. Parsons.
They will be gone about two months.
Mrs. A. A. Harder returned Friday
from a two weeks visit with friends
in Atoka and Caney.
Louis Allen has been busy this
week building sidewalk and the re-
sult is Wister has a good sidewalk
from the depot to the bank. We
hope to see others get busy and with-
in the next three months see side-
walks all over the city.
Geo Baldwin has purchased a lot
of Mm. Minnie Baldwin on Main street
and has already begun the arrange-
ments for the erection of a new brick
25x100 feet. There is also strong
talk of five more brick buildings be-
ing built on Plum street between now
and the first of September. Keep
the good work rolling and Wister will
| yet come into her proper sphere.
