Planned Systematic Looting But
Were Foiled.
Sheriff John Mahoney left last night
for Cresdpnt to assist the authorities
there in identifying a band of thieves
who planned one of the boldest rob-
beries in the history of this section of
the state a few nights ago Five
.goods and hardware stores were se-
lected by the gang as the meays of
illegitimate profit and after the locks
and escaping. Several others are held
access t< the business houses provid-
ed, the men left the scene of their
contemplated thefts until it is sup
posed, the town marshal had re-
tired.
The condition of the entrances to
the stores was discovered, howt v
fore the work of looting conn

charged with complicity in the bur-
glary- He succeeded in breaking Jail
and escaping. Several others aer held

of the Arctic club of America at a meet-
ing tonight, adopted a resolution to refer
